              Which principle? Graham having left? Which single was Out of Time? You'll probably like it since you rate 13 quite highly.

              I still reckon the best track is the hidden one you get by holding down reverse as soon as you start track 1.

              You must be able to get it for nowt these days. After all, you're in Lahdahn now so it's time for more cockerney stuff in your collection, innit?

                Yes, Graham leaving - it just didn't feel right! Out of Time was the first single taken off it, with the video with people in the Navy. I might see if I can get it cheaply though.

              Damn right you're missing out! Every Blur album is essential (except the great escape), even without much input from the G-unit. Having said that though, Battery in your leg is probably the best song on there.

      1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - all ace, some of my favourite albums ever.











      6 - Leisure - I hardly ever listen to it, I find it pretty dull.

            I still think The Great Escape has some nice moments. I would like to join the crowd and hate it, and in truth it shows its cultural age a lot (Mr Robinson's Quango, for example) but I always liked Top Man's production.

            I think The Universal is just too slow and ploddy for me. Tracks like Dan Abnormal, Entertain Me and Globe Alone are decent. Fuck it, I LIKE that album, goddammit!

        I love how it's clear everyone loves Modern Life is Rubbish and yet it was ignored on the Best of. Fools. Not that I would buy the Best Of anyway as I have all the albums but still. What a band. My childhood loves and still liked very much now.

      Set a new benchmark? For Blur? Otherwise I don't remember it having any effect on the general music scene, especially as OK Computer arrived a few months later (and then the shit Verve album).

      After all, it's (Blur) just following that whole Pavement lo-fi thing isn't it?

      But yeah, definitely their best in my opinion.

          Yeah, that's what I meant. I can see it as a Blur benchmark (though in many ways it's a natural progression from the 'other way' they could have gone from Modern Life is Rubbish) - but I can't see it as a too important to the wider scene, except that it did begin to close the door on Britpop...

    They're like radiohead they don't really do 'shit' just 'different' stuff.

    I've never liked Blur. Maybe its because the band that got me into music was Oasis, but they seem too camp and cocky to me. Also, the cockney accent pisses me off after a while.
