That Sugababes single (and video) is the awfullest thing I have ever had the misfortune of hearing. It also totally rips off some song I can't remember.
i prefer the sugababes song. i think. it got stuck in my head today and i didnt really mind.
whereas the monkeys have far far better songs than this one. it seems far too wanting to be an indie dancefloor filler for my liking.
Don't think it has sold out everywhere yet, they had several copies in pure groove (holloway road) yesterday when i popped in there. Hope it does go in at number one on Sunday.
I dunno about you, but when my favourite bands decide to call it a day, I'd much rather them have a massive back catalogue to go through, rather than a couple of albums. That's the one thing that I get really angry about with Joy Division.
Fair play, but there's no need to worry yet, they haven't even released their first album yet.
They could turn into Oasis, they could turn into Menswear. Who knows?
Agreed, but on the strength of the 10 or so songs I've heard, they don't seem like they will have enough ideas. Like I say, I could be wrong (I hope I am), but they appear to have one too many weak songs... 'Mardy Bum', and the one about a totalitarian bouncer.
I think there is more to them than the couple of songs they've put out so far, as well. I think they've got a core of 15 good songs, and the rest (that I've heard) aren't bad. Not so sure about this progression idea(mainly because I don't know when they wrote these songs), but to say that Arctic Monkeys are running out of ideas after one single release is mad. They've got a lot of good material down considering the age of the band (both the members of the band and the band itself).
True, but I prefer not to think about New Order. It gets me angry.
New Order sound completely different though. I suppose it was a good thing for them, but I find their music really bad. Not a fan of dance full stop, but their efforts at 'rock' have been naff for me too... 'True Faith' (with the clowns slapping eachother in the video... ARGHH) and their most recent efforts make you wonder if this really is Joy Division minus Curtis.
If he could hear 'Jet Stream Lover (Woo!)', he'd be spinning in his grave.

Can anyone realistically imagine the Arctic Monkeys going on for more than two albums? As much as I love them, I just can't see them being consistent.

I may be wrong.

'scummy' is the next single, btw (according to gigwise), though apparently they've renamed it to 'when the sun goes down' or something...
