The Vessels owe a definite nod to the '60s yet remain sounding very fresh at the same time, perfect ear candy for the hot summer days. While they sometimes tread into uber-twee territory of predictable bluesy things like 'Hey Hey Hey' (I do not dig that title, no I do not), there is the whimsical pop of 'Hang On To Your Love' and 'Is My Heart (Going Out)' - both hit singles without doubt. 'Autumn Sounds/See You Home Straight' makes an incredible double A-side single and both tracks are on the album, the latter being my preferred choice with its lazy beat and harmonies.
Such a great album for a band who've sprung on the scene without much warning. Currently one of the UK's best-kept secrets, but for how long?
