My first glastonbury

It was 1992, it was sunny all year obviously and I was about to start college. i went to see a band called Sheep on Drugs at the Thekla n the Monday and saw the Senseless Things the day after as a 'taster' of wall to wall live music. By Wednesday I was flat-lining with excitement. I'd bought my ticket in April and had placed it in a metal box hidden under my bed since that day. I had bought it in a shop in Glastonbury called 'Gothic Image' for £48 and since that day I had poured over every music paper magazine religiously for updates. Morrissey was due to play as were the Fall (my second time of seeing them) and Spiritualised, Suede, Blur, PJ Harvey, Carter (this was 1992 after all) The Blue Aeroplanes to name a few. I had spent agonising over which bands may clash and how I would cope with the painful tossing of a coin that would determine if I saw Midway Still or Cud. All in all it was a mixture of excitement and anxiety - the perfect mix for five days of bad food, bad beer and fantastic hedonism -to detail the whole weekend would somehow ruin the memory However most of is was a blur anyway, but isnt that the point of your first glasto?
