I just heard them (well last night) on 6 music and can happily report that I have heard possibly the worst band since the Towers of London - a band that sound like Babyshambles if a band could have a collective stroke whislt listening to Rancid and Jet - have seen them around the 'scene' for a while and laughed quite rightly at them but to be taken seriously - Steve Lamacq - you are in the hands of the paymaster, you smartly dressed midget-tramp
I know I'm meant to winge about bands but really - I will make the effort to like bloc party more if someone stops the madness!
not another...
Larrikin Love thread !
They don't deserve it !
the most eloquent thing
you can say about them is that they are, quite frankly, shitter than shit on a shit stirrers shitty stick
They are the fag end of Libertine lite and really is the last attempt by the industry to squeeze a couple of quid out of the 'London's Burning' scene - still yr right - just talking about them is giving them the oxygen of publicity innit! Let's talk about music which is great!
beg to differ
Far from it... I love "the Love" (as the cool kids are calling them), they're the most exciting band since The Mystery Jets. Their sound is a truely original mix, and a sound that hasnt visited the London live music scene before. The songwriting is suberb and they put on a bloody marvelous live show. I love them in the face etc
You are like...
joking right?
*elitism on*
the most exciting
band since the Mystery Jets...
That says it all !
says it all about what?
huh?
i never liked larrikin for a long time, but having actually listened to them on record now i reckon theyre actually Pretty Good.
Surely you mean...
"The most exciting band to have come out of Eel Pie Island since the Mystery Jets".
Which ain't saying much. If Pete Doherty had a younger brother who stayed in and listened obsessively to the Smiths yet also had a bizarre attraction to post-Victorian faux-bohemianisms (like the word Larrikin, for example), then he would probably form a band like Larrikin Love. So there.
Although to be positive, Grand Prix 86 are really quite good.
theyre not actually
from eel pie. s'funny to heaer people talk in such a manner.
Twickenham...
They're from just down the road from me, and they're less prog than the Mystery Jets.
Fuck Airhammer. (if you live around there you'll know what I'm on about).
...
I rather liked the single I heard/saw
Seriously
...
saw 'em about a week ago, didnt make an impression at all, in fact i dont really rememeber them at all
