I bought 69 Love Songs on ebay two days ago, on the basis of Papa Was A Rodeo. I'm really looking forward to hearing the album!
its so totally brilliant
and a poke in the eye for people who say 'i like it but its too long'. NO ALBUM IS TOO LONG YOU CORPORATE WHORE BAGS
yay
Magnetic Fields rule.
69 Love Songs
is a magnificent album. There are so many great songs on the first disc alone. Reno Dakota, I don't want to get over you and The luckiest guy are probably my faves.
I saw them live and they were marvellous. It was just a shame the venue was about 1/3 full. Plus Claudia drew me a heart. I like Claudia.
magnetic fields
are yummy yummy
i like
I Die a lot
isn't he deaf? or am i thinking of someone else?
Abilgail,
Belle of Kilronan!!!!!!
bollocks
think of some of your favourite albums. would they or would they not have been ruined if they didn't end where they did? i think so.
that
was to miserabli. I tried to make it go in the right place but i never get it to work. also it was quite badly phrased anyway. someone help out by thinking of some albums that are too long? anyway, i can't see how it's corporate whoring. for example, no commercial pop bands make EPs it seems. BUT I am not trying to be rude or anything.
no.
More music is better than less music.
I'm from the Guided by Voices school of 'release everything' school.
Having said that, some albums are neither too long or too short.
that approach
certainly has its merits. there are too many new bands around touring off next to no material. but it's a bit counter to the perfectionist principle that puts a bit of tension into many great bands.
i'm not expressing myself well today am I?
short albums are cool too
69 love songs is a classic but I also hate people complaining that albums are too short and that they're not getting enough value for money as if all albums nowadays have got to be 60 mins long or more. It's A Shame About Ray, Neko Case's Furnace Room Lullaby, the two Shins albums - all around the 30 minute mark but utterly wonderful and not a minute too short.
I love Magnetic Fields
have seen them live twice. One when they played the whole of 69 Love Songs and them last year on my birthday at the lyric.
Also, brevity is needed in music. Most 90's rap records could be much shorter, including ones I really like such as Ready to Die and Supreme Clientele. Fun House, 7 tracks, Illmatic, 10 tracks. Thats the way to go.
"I"
has to be one of my favorite albums at the moment, truly brilliant songwriting
