Billie Joe plays Freddy for President Bush

Artists: Green Day

Green Day finished their mammoth world tour in Melbourne with front man Billie Joe Armstrong unafraid to vent his spleen about El Presidente back home, George W Bush.

“My name is Billie Joe Armstrong and I was sent to make George fucking Bush’s life a fucking nightmare,” the pint-sized singer told the crowd. He draped an Australian flag over his teeny shoulders before announcing, "A big fuck you, President Bush." How rude.

President Bush, of course, just put pen to paper on a deal to destroy an area of Alaska essential to the preservation of wildlife in the region. 'Cause there's oil in that there soil, y'see. Well done, George. Billie Joe meanwhile has a DVD and CD package in the shops for Christmas, which he no doubt plugged between slating his President.

"draped an Australian flag over his teeny shoulders"

Cause the Aussie PM is sooo much better then the Bushbaby.

Perhaps in protest Billie should not use any electricity as it make come from the oil from Alaska. And it would shut him up...

i detest green day

they're no worse than a pop band. their wonderful slating of george bush ("He, is, like, a fucking moron!") is pissing me off.

Rather them

than Girls Aloud. The day one of those Poundstretcher Spice Girls comes out with an witty political aside is the day I retire from life.

haha

It's truly wonderful...

...when people describe everything they think is bad as 'pop'. What an ignorant point of view.

On the other hand, bought the new DVD. Fucking good show.

i meant that

as they are just as manafactured as any pop band. because they play their own instruments (badyly) doesn't make them any more credible.

How are Green Day

manafactured? Who put them together then?

...

I'm with Rspce. Erm, what part of starting your career in 1991, releasing seven albums and THEN becoming Top Of The Pop's favourite sons makes you 'manufactured'?

it was a wrong statement

i just really dislike them and can't express it in a coherent argument.

Well...

that's not very good at all!

Saying they play their instruments badly is a bit wrong as well. Mike Dirny is probably one of the best bassists in the world. If you check him live away from the power-chord album madness...fooking hell.

I saw Green Day

for the first time in 1992 in Tunbridge Wells when they played with Joeyfat. When they came over again playing bigger venues they took China Drum AND Joeyfat out on tour with them, rather than just running the usual pay-to-play rubbish.
Very nice blokes who don't forget people who helped them out in the past.

i will never

see them live if i'm lucky.

This band are the corporate musical version

of Michael Moore.Only more flatulent and moronic

Pffft....

indie-snob

technically

eddie van halen is an amazing guitarist.

only he's not.

okay...

okay, that's great. but this band are A.M.E.R.I.C.A.N. they're speaking out in a land that crucifies the fucking Dixie Chicks. They may not have swallowed The Guardian's reasons for why Bush is a bad guy, but they're standing up and saying something. Which means the best you've got to criticise them for is their music. So can you just concentrate on that? 'Cos let's face it, it's pretty fucking bad...

Also,

inter-alia,it will run SUVs.And it will soon cause serious hurt to you and me in more ways than you can imagine.

by the bye,i'm not defending Armstrong here.

??

The posting ways of the worthies above seem to have obscured the fact that the above is addressed to tom_from_sparks.

right..

"perhaps in protest Billie should not use any electricity as it make come from the oil from Alaska. And it would shut him up..."

Yeah, that's a good response. Real good:

1) Billie Joe wasn't using any electricity made from Alaskan oil when he said those things. Not that I was there, I just, like, know what's going on in the world..

2) Oil from Alaska wouldn't be going to Australia. So he's not a hypocrite at all, really.

3) I don't know if you... errm, what's the right way of saying this... follow the news... but you should read things about Alaska and ANWR. By the way, do you know what ANWR is? That's all.

But yeah, carry on with the 'high and mighty' stuff. It looks good on you..

They're a brilliant live band.

I don't get how Billy Joel plugging his band's DVD to their fans means he can't slate President Bush? Explain.
