‘Which one of the two of us is gonna burn this house down?’ sounds likes bluesy guitar rock with a hint of punk thrown in for flavour…cue harmonious wooooo oooooooo’s and mad drumming. The lyrics are probably off a Supergrass album ‘you turn the oven on, I’ll light a match’ all this added together gives the song a watered down, slightly boring feel.
The second song to this double A-side, is where The Star Spangles, shine. 'Stain Glass Shoes' is barely there before it goes, more post punk, sounding a bit like The Clash singing about taxis, with a Manics Holy Bible era guitar solo…this really should have been the lead song.
With a sound like this and a support slot with Idlewild, I can see this band picking up a few fans along the way...
