The band - who in the '90s produced minor hits such as 'Golden Skin' and 'Too Much, Too Little, Too Late' - were dropped by Polydor following the release of their second album, Neo Wave, in a typical "failed to live up to the label's commercial expectations" scenario. But the band never officially split up, and in a slightly unexpected announcement on an unofficial Silver Sun site, www.silver-sun.co.uk, singer James Broad has detailed plans for a third studio album.

Says Broad, "So far I can describe the sound as a kind of future-sounding Silver Sun. More keyboards and unusual sounds & textures than before, kinda like 'Time' by ELO." If all goes to plan, the album will be recorded by the band's original lineup, and produced by Peter Woodroffe, who "is a very nice man".

This brilliant news comes shortly after other popular rock bands of the '90s such as 3 Colours Red and The Wildhearts have delighted their fans with long-desired reunions. Perhaps, now that rock is trendy, some of these bands will receive the commercial credit their songwriting talents actually deserve.
