I’m loving this more and more with every listen. In fact, it’s been in my CD player fairly solidly since I got it - it’s one of those cds which sinks in deeper with each hearing.

Driven, angry rock with an edge of bitter melancholy to it, Sufferkiss are masters of songs which build up and build up to a sound-explosion which utterly exhilarates you despite the fact that you knew it was coming… and then does the same thing every single time you hear it. At the moment I’m mostly loving the final track: the dark, evil sounding and frankly fucking scary ‘Think of Me’. It sounds like it holds a grudge against everything in the world and is about to act on it, starting with a repetitive and resigned-sounding guitar riff and then growing more threatening and brooding than you’d think it was possible for a few lumps of wood and string and a set of vocal chords to sound.

You can catch Sufferkiss live in Northampton on December 12th, and in Derby on December 23rd, check out their website for details and for downloads of demo tracks...

Sufferkiss - demo#2

FANTASTIC REVIEW!
sufferkiss rock!

Did no one from this site go to see them at the Windmill(is it?) gig?

Re: Sufferkiss - demo#2

It was a Drowned in sound gig, so i reckon 'a few' dis staff were there... about 7 i think.

we tend not to review our own gigs.

Re: Sufferkiss - demo#2

That seems strange, not reviewing your own gigs.
As you've invited the bands to play I guess it would seem a bit unfair if you gave them a not-so-good review..

Re: Sufferkiss - demo#2

I think the DiS team could review their own gigs with the same honesty they do everything else though! Seems a shame :(

I was at the Windmill - yet another ace DiS gig, hurrah! Sufferkiss are without a doubt my favourite current live band - be good to see them with S Rock Levinson again too.

Re: Sufferkiss - demo#2

such a stink was kicked up about Josephine getting a bad review after their gig that I'd rather not have to put up with any more shit like that from bands. It kinda defeats the purpose of putting on the bands if they're only gonna get slagged by a writer the next day. Would be nice if other sites/mags actually reviewed the gigs tho. *sigh*
