Icelander Einar Tonsberg isn’t exactly what you’d call a mainstream artist: his musical guise of Eberg is, however, firmly a pop exploration, often featuring his own invention of the e-harp - essentially a coat hanger with strings hooked up to a laptop. Look. There's a picture of it there. Isn't it nice? Yes.

His latest single, 'I’m Moving To Wales', is a suitably whimsical piece of compelling, pat-it-on-its-cheeky-ickle-head, scat-rhythmed, big-chorused indie-pop that – whilst picking on some obvious lyrical targets including "sheeps and castles and old mines / lots of crazy people all out of their minds" - is musically akin to the tuneful, electro-wilfulness of Super Furries or, at a stretch, Gorkys at their less twee.

But - and bear with us here - it’s a sentiment that draws – unconsciously, mimetically, whatever – upon the spirit of legendary Welsh punks Anhrefn, whose career, politics, ethos were distilled beautifully in the track 'Rhedeg I Paris'; a song all about loving travel, loving making the World smaller, and loving connecting with like-minded independent goons – but ultimately wanting to go back to their homeland, where all these elements in creative life breathed free and fiery.

All of which sounds a bit poncy. It isn’t. But sometimes in throwaway pissaround is a deeper truth for all that. As Eberg himself says: "I belong to the land of song". That’s a land that holds few boundaries outside those of the eternal imagination, we suspect. Or some such shit.

As for B-side 'Love Your Bum', it’s a bleepy, acoustic-y, blobby, Fonda 500-esque bit o’ laptop indie with lyrics nicked from adverts for bog roll.
And it's gonna be hammered on the radio, you mark our words.

Nuff said.
