Björk: officially bonkers

by Mike Diver
Artists: Björk

Elfin queen of Icelandic avant-pop Björk has been named the most eccentric star on the planet in a BBC poll. Well, whatever: I love her like tubby yanks love pork chops and maple syrup. (I don't want to eat her, you understand...)

The singer heads a top twenty list, which can be seen below. Her music was described by the compiling editor as 'quirky'. What a qunt.

1. Björk
2. Chris Eubank
3. David Icke
4. Tom Baker
5. Ozzy Osbourne
6. John McCririck
7. Patrick Moore
=8. Vivienne Westwood
=8. Sir Jimmy Savile
10. Uri Geller
11. Elton John
12. Clarissa Dickson-Wright
13. Ken Dodd
14. David Bellamy
15. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
16. Neil and Christine Hamilton
17. Zandra Rhodes
18. Adam Hart-Davies
19. Keith Floyd
20. Johnny Rotten

Vespertine is one of the most beautiful records ever made, and if you disagree then you ain't got no EARS, foo'.

patrick moore?

what? just because he wears a monocle doesn't mean he's eccentric.

i think it does.

Monocle= fruitcake

Uri Geller

is just a knob surely?

Shouldn't he be on the BBC's "just a knob" poll?

I want to make a joke

About you not wanting to eat Bjork. But it would be rather lewd. So I shall just call you a big gay and be done with it.

david icke!

i thought he was just crazy.

?

I would like to eat bjork. OK?

yes

but he does play the xylophone.

Since when...

...is Johnny Rotten anything approaching 'star'?

who is Keith Floyd?

is he the TV chef? if so how is he eccentric? surely he's just an alcoholic.

.

Since Patrick Moore lost his monocle.

Ah, ho!

she's not bonkers...

everybody else is.

She's a genius. There's a difference.

I think they got the 'cunt'

list mixed up, as Chris Eubank shouldn't be on this list.

She is...

... da fox.

Jimmy Saville...

should be be numbers 1-5. Did you see the Louis Theroux programme with him? Now I'm glad I didn't get any thing "fixed" by that nut.

Bjork on the other hand is a genius!! For proof, check out Drawing Restraint 9. Then check out Matthew Barney and the Cremaster Cycle. A bit weird, but good... if you're into stuff like that.

Cremaster Cycle

I sat through 5 hours of it once.
Very good, but heard work.
I liked the one with the water-god character best I think.
Some of them went on a bit.
Were they meant for sit-down cinema viewing? Or to dip in and out of in a gallery.

Cremaster Cycle

A bit of both I think. I saw Cremaster 3 at the Guggenheim a couple of years ago and it was a sort of video installation. It took over and interacted with the layout of the museum. I can't really explain it. It was very strange. The only way to describe it would be like watching a film whilst being on the set.

Paul McCarthy's thing at the Whitechapel recently, the offsite project

was like that. A huge installation, with ships and sets and all manner of weirdness, caravans aetc, in a massive warehouse, with crazy film of people acting out all sorts of disturbing primal scene type scenarios in masks and covered in chocolate sauce.

It was scary.

patrick moore

was good on gamemaster.

is that

a type of xylophone?

VESPERTINE is her best album ever!

closely followed by medulla

'nuff sed

Nah...

...Homogenic pisses on Medulla.

And the Dancer in the Dark soundtrack is LUSH.

Yeah.

1. Vespertine
2. Homogenic
3. Selmasongs
4. Debut

Then the rest.

John and me, sitting in a tree...

...listening to Bjork, I-N-G.

OR SOMETHING.

POST POST POST POST

its great, best of the lot.

Nah.

i prefer

medulla to debut.
get me.

I thin Medulla might be my least favourite

I haven't been able to get through it in one sitting.
It's why I started making vocal only stuff -
I thought it could be done better.

Post...

is good as well. Hyperballad is awesome. I can't decide which is best between Homogenic and Vespertine though. Didn't really like selmasongs. Might give it another listen though. Debut seems to have aged really badly as well. Apart from Play Dead.

er, ozzy osbourne? eccentric?

the bbc is stupid.

Chris Morris

Shirley

Where is

Julian Cope?!?!

Elton John more eccentric than Ken Dodd

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA

I'm sure he'll love that

huh?

is this just restricted to european celebrities? in which case, how come kate bush and jean-paul gaultier are omitted? i don't understand at all.

yes, yes,

i agree. kate bush is crezazy...

but bjork is queen.
hooray for bjork!
xxxxxxxxxxxXXX

Bjork is..

a f**king genius! All this media bullshit about her being crazy is just a way to undermine her work - she's just an artist who really feels what she does... and what she does is f**king well BRILLIANT.

I reiterate: Hooray for Bjork! x
