One of the most influential bunch of rockerz upon today's scene are set to headline the big rockshow of the year!

Reading wouldn't be Reading without some huuuge hairy rock legends somewhere on the bill and this year, we can announce that it will be Metallica at the top of the tree.

The band have posted tour dates on their official website, which go a little summat like this...

DiScuss: Who do you hope they announce this year? Will Radiohead headline? Queens of the Stone Age? Deftones? System of a Down? Muse? CTC? Pennywise? Sigur Rós? Will Mean Fiddler see sense and not put any garage rock or ironic hair metal, especially on the mainstage when they've only released a couple of singles?!? Heard any rumours or confirmations? reading would not be reading if there wasn' some lot of chancers, hot off today's style carousel, with one single and great hair.

Metallica in '97 was some serious rawk, itll be great to do it all over again.

however, Motorhead have ONE song which they play over and over again to try and trick people into thinking they have many

it gets boring after a while, I've seen flocks of European Motorhead biker guys swarm away from Lemmy and co and check out Rolf Harris in the past for just that reason

I'd love to see Motorhead on the same bill, but Reading always have turned them down. now that would rock like a hurricane....

"mammothy" is a great word, me thinks. As for Motorhead, they're legendary, everyone loves "Ace of Spades" (or so it seems) and who wouldn't want to see them? I know I would love to.

Is there such a thing as Donington anymore? Last abnd to play there was the Stereophonics, and before that, it was Kiss+ozzy in '96. ( I think). Its only been held twice (94 / 96) in the past decade, so I really do think Donington is as dead as a very dead thing...

everyone may love Ace Of Spades, but like i said, they have one song, a whole set can't be made up of that

tho last time i saw them they certainly tried, they played it 3, count 'em, 3 times... i only stayed to watch some bikers fight and see if Steven Wells was around to harass again.. (he'd gone to bed early, aww..)

The last Ozzfest was at Donnington, by all reports it was an absolute ballsup. Most people were highly critical of the organisation of the venue, meaning most people missed loads of bands due to bottlenecking, and wrist bands for the pits? Blah..

Fucking yes. Especially as I missed them on the last tour with Anthrax because I'm an idiot who got the date wrong. Motorhead back at Reading would be amazing.

I have heard rumours that Bowling For Soup and Good Charlotte are also confirmed. And another rumour says the Distillers are highly likely.

Reading/Leeds: Metallica to Headline!

I dotn like metallica but id sure as hell see em live! Would be nice to see Glassjaw and Cave In there too...Mike Patton's bands should have their own stage so everyone could watch him all day (when all the garage rock stuff is on) Bowling For Soup/Good Charlotte..no thanks, there's less substance there thn in the hot dogs.

I reckon just give 'em their own festival and have some kinda holocaust take place.

Or get The Libertines to share around their Heroine. That should kill a few of the greasy, leather wearing trendies!

DisCuss: how much of a better place would the world be if The Stooges were never allowed to get anywhere? (see also: killing hitler when he was a child debate!)

That's a fucking stupid thing to say Mr. Adams, The Stooges are one of the best bands of the 20th Century...truly defined an era. Don't assume just because they've been imitated to death it makes them any less. If that was the case The Beatles and The Stones would be the worst culprits...

Money on: Feeder, Hell is for Heroes and Audioslave make it to the main stage, hope we see Reuben and Douglas making an appearance on a stage somewhere too.
