I never saw them so I'm feeding my obsession here:

Three pages, though a fair few doubles.

Jesus they look good. I am now mortified I missed 'em. :'(

I might cry if I look at these

I had tickets to see them! It was only a few weeks away, then they split-up! I'll never forgive them.

There, there.

Have a big man hug: O

monpot

i don't know anyone from cardiff who hasn't told me that story.
sometimes i wish i was a little older so i could nod along with empathy, but that's one club i'll always be locked out of. :(

What made it extra annoying

Was that Cardiff wasn't in the original bunch of dates. They added some more due to populer demand. It's like they were playing with my emotions.

In other Cardiff Gigs I Missed, none of my friends wanted to go to Clwb with me to see a little known band called The Strokes.

Moldy Peaches were supporting as well.

:-(

i will always ALWAYS

regret not seeing the white stripes in the louisiana.
but again, i was a little too young at the time.
i wish you could download videos from youtube.

the performance of 'one armed scissor' from the conan

o'brien show is almost as good/chaotic as the jools holland performance. at the end omar throws his guitar off the stage and vaults his amp to run behind the drums. they're completely bonkers, i swear.

oh my god

check out 'cedric's sheep rant'. that's hilarious.

ahahaha

that's amazing. he looks like a complete idiot. maaaaa...

I saw them (counts...) twice, only...

...oh well.
My mate supported them once.

i saw em twice

first time they were pretty great.

second time they were a bit pants, and trail of dead pwned them in the face the following night.

their live performances were stunning

I always found it hilarious how "The Mars Volta" were always on one side of the stage and "Sparta" on the other. I'm not sure if they EVER got on!

well

they were amazing. saw them three times. first time was at the joiners in southampton with an audience of about 75, and i had no idea who they were except until the blokes i had been stood next to for the past 2 hours go on stage and went apeshit. probably the best eyeopening gig ever. cedric almost hit me in the face with a swinging microphone i was so close to them (joiners stage used to be about 2 feet high). ah glory days. muahahaa

southampton joiners

Is where my friend's band, disoma, supported.

I missed it! DANG.

ha

I saw them twice (Electric Ballroom - Dec 00 and Astoria Feb 01)

First was amazing, second less so.

yep

also saw them twice, Reading 2000 was mental and stupidly packed, but Electric Ballroom Dec 2000 was truly great. Can still remember Cedric's spoken word intro to Napoleon Solo at the end, mindblowing

I hate you 'Bund

Love you

too

Cool

I don't really hate you, I'm just jealous.

the video on there

labelled "old" and "no afros" is INCREDIBLE. in/casino/out stuff capped by i-n-i-t-i-a-t-i-o-n. cedric on the chorus of chanbara is so funny

that is all

seeing them

on the Letterman show - can't help but think that was the sort of thing that finished them off

mmmm ACE

I saw them three times, who wants to touch me?

Me

:-(

Ack

Jealousy Mr. Moribund, jealousy.

I got into ATDI about three months too late. Dagnammit.

The intro to Pattern Against User is great: "If you don't know who The Fall are you've been listening to too much hip hop and heavy metal.

Brilliant!

I nearly couldn't be arsed checking the link out, but when I did just sat hear with a huge nostalgic grin on my face! Saw them twice (Leeds festival and Glasgow Arches). Amazing band, Cedric's handplants off the bass drum are the stuff of legend. Mind you so were their whiny rants about the crowd getting too animated. Sorely missed though, Sparta and Mars Volta are both pish. Ooooh controversial!

i used to love

them telling the the crowd not to 'slamdance'. I remember Cedric did it at the start of the Electric Ballroom show and some twat threw a pint at him (and missed), and Cedric made sure the guy was thrown out of the gig, lovely stuff.

Also, I think it was fuelled by one of their friends being killed or paralysed at a gig
