Miss Black America, well, Seymour at least, are back and coming atcha soon..

Love 'em, hate 'em, over the course of 2002 you couldn't ignore them, their ranting and the media on the whole, raving about 'em. Amid, the news of their split, and then the news of them reforming, we can now reveal what the hell has been going on.

Miss Black America have reformed (sorry haterz!) although the only original member of the line-up who remains is frontman Seymour Glass. The new members are Simon Cooper drums, Mat Anthony guitar and Jonny Steele bass.

Talking to Mr.Glass on Boxing Day he said something along the lines of:
"The new members were quite obvious choices, I walked upto them and just asked them out right"

The new line-up go to Holland in January to get ready for the Drowned in Sound February tour with Kinesis, the dates're here!

DiScuss: Anyone have any idea who these new people are, what bands they've been in before? Will it be the same band without Gish's guitar godness? And will whoever the poor soul is posting hate messages saying the same thing over and over please go pick up a guitar and a microphone and record us your demo and send it in. Stand up and be counted or be an angry little nobody forevermore. Thanks.

Playing the same old tunes? Without "the legend that is Gish on guitar" and Mikes absolutely stunning groovy basslines and li'l topless neil banging away behind the drumkit... I hope not! It could never be the same.

I'm dubious to say the least but I gotta give the guy total respect for not giving up, so we'll see!

Does anyone know if it's true that Neil and Mike are forming another band?

Yeah, I s'pose you're right. And I trust that Seymour wouldn't ask people to join his band unless they're fucking good. I s'pose it's just gonna be different. I sorta hope they try and bring their own personalities into the songs though, rather than trying to recreate what the others brought.. If that makes sense.

I cant wait till Feb to find out what they're gonna be like. Ooooh it's just like xmas all over again hehehe

You know it really is pathetic, and to be honest slightly depressing to read this shit. In case you haven't heard, I have the what now seems to be dubious task of stepping into the great Gish's very talented shoes. As if its not hard enough trying to do a decent job - which I am thanks very much - but I have to put up with being pre-judged by a load of faceless cowardly bastards, the majority of which have never even seen my fucking face nevermind heard me play! Kindly shut the fuck up until you have heard what I can do, and then whatever opinions you bunch of muppets have will at least be based on something worth discussing.

U should stop giving the band shit and be grateful that they are trying to keep playing the music for the fans. I cant wait to see the band when they tour with kinesis(who are also a fucking excellent band) and good luck to all the new members.

You lot sound so stupid talking like this, you havent said anything even bordering on being true and even if you knew why the band split up it wouldnt really be your place to pass judgement would it.

Seymour is determined to make Miss Black America work and he is doing a good job, how long until people realise some bands are to strong to be broken? It isnt about you, its about the music, your cynisism is appauling. As Sean pointed out, you would be respected more if you made these comments as part of a better band, challenge MBA with music and we will listen with interest. If you cant do that then AT LEAST get your facts straight before you write this crap.

So, say, Shed 7 or fucking JJ72 are more worthy of people's respect and interest and time than me, simply cos they can play instruments and write music at a proficiency waaaay beyond mine - as i can't, in all truth [tho i've tried btw, on more than the 1 instrument], and am only a fake jobbing wannabe spare-time music hack?

No, the band did not quit because of that alleged incident. The alleged incident, whether it happened or not, was not a major factor in the band's decision.

To be honest, I think it's inevitable that people are going to be dubious about it all. A lot of people have felt very strongly about MBA and knew the band personally as well and I think you've got to try and understand that people are going to be unsure, especially because they dont know what to expect.

I certainly don't envy you, but I have complete respect for all three of you. Hopefully you'll have everyone eating their words and wondering what they were ever even doubting in the first place but in the mean time, I spose you've just gotta hold your heads high and ignore it all.

PS - there are a few people who like to hang around DiS just waiting for the mention of MBA so that they may spout the same old shite. i think it gives them some kind of comfort. you'd be well advised just to ignore them and marvel at the way in which your band manages to divide opinion so finely!

The poor guys have a hard enough job as it is filling their old shoes, without people slagging them off on here! This is only a bloody webzine is it not?! There are more important things in life.. if you have enough time to waste on just slagging off 3 people that you haven't even heard play yet - go and get a life.. Some people are making some valid points and good on them, but what is up with you sad bastards that just slag off 3 people you don't know, haven't seen and probably haven't heard?!

I'm sure they're going to do a great job, Seymour wouldn't have asked them if he didn't think they were capable.. so leave them to go and get some practise.. if they're wasting all their time here sticking up for themselves they're not gonna have time to practise now then, are they?

I'm glad MBA have reformed.. it will never be the same, we all know that but it would be too much of a shame and waste to lose such a great band. When I heard, I knew seymour would be back, I didn't know it would be under the same name but so be it. I hope there will be mainly new material but I want to hear old stuff too.. I only heard it live once.. to never hear that again would be awful.

Oh and a question - isn't the new drummer their old old one?
