Guns N Roses mentalist Axl Rose has told Rolling Stone that the long-delayed Chinese Democracy WILL be released this year.
"It's a very complex record," said the singer. "I'm trying to do something different. Some of the arrangements are kind of like Queen. Some people are going to say, 'It doesn't sound like Axl Rose, it doesn't sound like Guns N' Roses.' But you'll like at least a few songs on there."
Rose also revealed that he hasn't spoken to former GnR guitarist Slash for some ten years. Shocking behaviour.
In more album-almost-ready news, both The Vines and Placebo has records on the horizon.
The Vines' as yet untitled third record has been slated for an April release. The band's manager, Andy Kelly, told a fan site: "The release date was originally set for 21 Mar but now looks more likely to be 4 Apr."
Placebo, meanwhile, will release their own yet-to-be-titled album on March 13th. A single, 'Because I Want To' (visions of Billie Piper, anyone?), is to be released on March 6th.
Bet you £5 Chinese Democracy
will be shit.
really? because i would have
expected it to, well, possibly be one of the most amazing albums EVER made....
anyone see them play docklands / reading a few years ago?
Saw them at Docklands and it was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen:
-a fat bloke with dreadlocks singing lead vox
-a bloke with a bucket of chicken on his head showing off his Nunchucks
-confetti
wierd night. plus all the new songs they played were utter shite.
it had better be
fucking good.... i mean im no big guns n roses fan but those who are have been waiting for ages... are there even any left?
i really don't know what to expect
from the Chinese Democracy. the same conversation has Axl saying they've got around 35 songs completed, and he's said in the past he has it's "sister" albums planned out as well.
supposedly it's going to be heavily influenced by Nine Inch Nails.
Ah, I bet Axl still has too many
rock ballards flowing through him for it to be that good.
But it will sell because of the anticipation.
Still, £5 bet still on. Who's buying?
i dunno
i've read some interesting stuff on it. apparently the large delay is, amongst over reasons, down to axl taking several years to teach himself to play a bunch of instruments, but also to learn to programme, which gives credence to this supposed electronic/industrial direction that Slash said Axl wanted to take the band in..
But, then again, Shaquille O'Neil has said he does a "guest rap" on one of the tracks so.. who knows?
bet you a fiver
it wont come out till next year at the earliest
well
the above comments were made at some kind of music industry bash for KoRn's tour launch (or something), and Axl also allowed himself to be photographed a number of times*. Given the guy's been quite a recluse for the last decade, this is a big step, hence all the speculation about the album FINALLY being released as discussion seems to be that is leaning towards reintroducing the band into the public conscienceness.
*the photos are fucking terrifying, by the way.
Bet you a fiver
That G'n'R album sounds like it should have been released six years ago, that the high notes are only hit by autotuning the shit out of Axl's now utterly fucked vocal chords.
I'll put an acca on the tour being a Spinal Tap in the 21st century disaster, too.
bet £1000
it'll be shit.

"but you'll like a few songs on there"
its clearly going to be a pile of pap
lol i was just going to comment on that too
how unambitious!!
Shaq
that's immense, I'm tempted to buy it on such evidence alone, I can just envisage high pomp and comic strip pulp whenever i hear about this thing now.
Shite as it may be, its crossing over into stand-alone novelty product status.
Saw them at leeds with no expectations after i couldnt get a decent spot for the streets in 02. It was one of the funniest, most ridiculous, and entertaining things i've seen ("I believe in slime!!" intro tape). One of the new songs was really good, ("blues" in the title somewhere), another sounded like a stillborn white album tune.
I'm actually looking forward to this now.
rolling stone called it...
"possibly the most anticipated record in rock and roll history." Fuck. Right. Off. it'll be a curio, nothing more.
...
...At Leeds fest the guy with the greasy bucket on his head screwed up the intro to 'Sweet Child'...ROOKIE ERROR! He made up for it with a solo breakdancing spot whilst Axl changed faces for the encore...
don't you dare
insult buckethead,you wankers.
he is very delicate as his face was scratched off by chickens in his youth. be nice.
masterpieces take time!
loveless by my bloody valentine i remember nearly bankrupted the record label, and it's brilliant
then the la's first album required dust on the valved mixer from the original abbey road to sound great
but, i can imagine chinese democracy sounding very different from those two. reason being Lee Mavers and Kevin Shields being good songwriters.
Yes
Axl.
Like shite!
"Im trying to do something different. Some of the arrangements are kind of like queen"
Well then its not fuking different then is it!?!!
Might buy it (if it ever does get released) when its in a bargain bin somewhere
Dont really think Axl and Co are worth more than a couple o quid anymore
