THE BEST BAND TO PLAY LONDON THIS YEAR????

i can state right here, right now, that the only band you'll need to see this year are Dogs Die in Hot Cars. And they're at the Barfly on the 2nd Oct which is always a bonus... Plus Eastern Lane.
If anyone wants to disagree, bring it on!

    For me Le Neon are the best band in London this year.. them and a new band called MoonDaySpeaks who you may not know of yet - they have a site at www.moondayspeaks.com with some tasty mp3's

        STEEL RULES DIE (awesome melodic harcore in the vein of avail/ hot water music. Recently toured with AFI and Stretch Armstrong. Just signed to reflections records in Europe)
        HITECHJET (Uxbridge hardcore pop rockers, amazing live band soon to blow up all over your face. Think Grade vs The Get Up Kids and you'd be a long way off but have the genral idea. sort of. )
        THE KILLEREST EXPRESSION (Melodic hooksters from bimingham, dropping some big fat tunes all over old school punk bearings)
        BUZZKILL (rocket from the crypt style rock with brass, good time party tunes with an edge)
        NOVEMBER COMING FIRE (intense post hardcore thrashings of the crazy kind)
        CAPE CANAVERAL (alternative rock in an american style, last mini alnum was with seismic but have now joined IATDE for their next outing)
        THE WIRELESS STORES (solo set from ex bioviac man paul yeadon)
        THE DEVILS (ex stalingrad playing nosiy and mental metal, killer new album getting great reviews all over the place)
        HUMANFLY (cut up hardcore noise from ex canvas men)
        THE HARDY ST PROS (ex travis cut pop rock punk noodlings)
        UNHOLY GRAVE vs TOTAL fucking DESTRUCTION ( half an hour of pure grind froma round the world. Japan's Unholy Grave and all the way from New York, Total Fucking Destruction. Get here early, you dont wanna miss this!)

        and its only a fiver, FOR 12 BANDS!,

          Le Neon are indeed good to watch, but I think the best band I've seen this year has to be X is Loaded.

          Dogs Die in Hot Cars didn't really impress me very much when I saw them.

            Do Le Neon and X Is Loaded have the same management? Does anyone remember a band called The Junket - they were amazing. Anyone know what the members are up to now? I heard the singer was starting another band

          The best band to play this year were Sparklehorse, for me. I adore Sparklehorse. I can't think of any band more beautiful, original and emotive.

          When they played Spirit Ditch I almost cried.

          Then again when Dirty Three played "Everything's Fucked" at the Barfly I actually did cry... so maybe that was better.

          Dirty Three as the Barfly was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Incomparible to shitty Camden bands.

            probably (predictably) The Blood Brothers, first time around, with Winnebago Deal. Or Isis maybe - that was immense. Or maybe Sage Francis... was good.

              I bought their album..

              I expected so much.....

              I think they should employ more people.

              3 layers of heaviness.. fair enough.

              But wouldn't it be so nice if they layered piles and piles (of smiles).. no layers of guitars on top of each other.

              More members in the band and they'd be perfect.

      Pretty easy, The Roots when they played Brixton Academy in March.

      They're the Best band I've ever seen (not particulary my favourite but still the best).
