Hello,
I am currently looking round to record. Basically looking for a decent studio with a kick ass live room. I've looked at Rockfield in Wales, and though it's great £850 a day is a bit over budget.
The recordings will need to be of radio/release quality, any recommendations would be most welcome.
Ta.
so it s areal lo-fi
done on a budget type thing you're looking at then?
.
Not really, we I don't mind spending some money; but £850 a day is a bit much. Especially as it'd probably take a good few days. Anyone know anything about mighty atom studios? I can't get on their site at work as its in flash.
Cheers.
.
I'm gonna record my bands single here:

Unless you're working with a record company, producer etc or can produce yourself, you'll just be chucking money away in a giant expensive studio. It's important to work with a sympathetic engineer...an enthusiastic engineer is worth more than any money in the world.

My mates recorded their album on a korg 16 track, using two mics on the drum kit, and got played several times on Lamaq
I have recorded at
Sonic One studios near Swansea....great sound and prices.

Have you perhaps tried here?

If you're in Wales, it might not be very practical. If you're nearer London, though...give them a call.
Is he nice?
Are there biscuits?
Funny you should ask...
...yes, both times. And tea- and coffee-making facilities to envy.
wales, eh
I did some recording at the studio run by the band Melys a couple of years ago...it was pretty good, and £120 a day, if I recall. Didn't have AMAZING gear by london standars, but they were talking about using the disused ballroom(!) in that building as a live room- it was a fucking mansion...
they recorded all their stuff there, I believe.
well we paid 200 a day
and our recording got on xfm and radio 1..its more important who youwork with i think
studio
if you can get there this little country studio is worth the trip...for the name alone!
