British rockers The Wildhearts are inviting fans to join a musical revolution as their new single storms into the charts and the band announce a whirlwind of activity over the coming months.

The band released their new single on Monday, and with a mid-week chart placing of 12 (which will probably slip to somewhere between 15 and 20 by Sunday), it looks as though things are looking up for the energetic and inventive rock band, who have been plagued with trouble since their conception.

Not willing to rest on their laurels for a second, the band have announced details of a new single, 'So Into You', which will be released in April and promoted by a full UK tour, of which details are yet to be announced. Rumour has it that tour support will come from Amen, who in turn will take The Wildhearts on the road when they tour America later in the year. In May, the band hope to go to Vancouver to record the new album, which will probably feature both of their recent hits, Vanilla Radio and Stormy In The North - Karma In The South (watch out for it on Top of the Pops!).

Meanwhile, with ever vague promises of further solo material from Ginger, his website reports that Silver Ginger 5's followup to 2000's Black Leather Mojo will be recorded in March, featuring the lineup of Ginger, Conny Bloom (formerly of the Electric Boys), Ritch Battersby (ex-Wildhearts and Grand Theft Audio) and 'Random' Jon Poole (from the Cardiacs).

Since DiS news items are entirely impartial, I would not dream of urging any fans of heavy and melodic rock to hurry up and get down to the shops and help The Wildhearts bring decent music back into the charts. Never.

Wildhearts: "Wanna be part of history? Well, now's yer chance."

You're right. Articles should be impartial, and this one was. And there's no way that I would compromise its impartiality by reiterating that everyone needs to go and buy the singles (both of them) RIGHT NOW.

Cheers,
Damian.

Re: Wildhearts: "Wanna be part of history? Well, now's yer chance."

So you're all saying there's no way we should help one of the most overlooked British bands finally get the success they deserve by buying not only their current singles but also classic albums such as Earth vs The Wildhearts and PHUQ?

Re: Wildhearts: "Wanna be part of history? Well, now's yer chance."

Dale, I wasn't saying anything at all. DiS news items are not intended for opinions to be expressed, which is why I made a specific point of not expressing any opinion at all. I just wouldn't do something like that.

Re: Wildhearts: "Wanna be part of history? Well, now's yer chance."

I impartially believe that The Wildhearts are utter gash.

the chart position, totp etc.

Just in case anyone's interested (presumably not pissing on the fire) the official chart position was 17, quite a bit higher than the other rock entries, audioslave and hell is for heroes (both of whom have been given a lot more publicity) and the band will treat us to a performance on this friday's top of the pops. as will audioslave.

Re: the chart position, totp etc.

Woohoo! I almost listened to Radio 1 to hear them play it but didn't. Has it been played on ANY radio at all? Wankers....

Martin.

Re: the chart position, totp etc.

There might've been a couple of plays, perhaps by Ian Camfield on XFM or something, but most radio stations refused to playlist it. I'm glad they will be on TOTP, as their performances are normally good, but it seems strange that the fans should have to celebrate the fact as though it's an unexpected occurrence. As far as I'm aware, the Wildhearts were one of something like three new entries to the Top 20, so it should really be a matter of course.

Re: Wildhearts: "Wanna be part of history? Well, now's yer chance."

anyone out there looking forward to ginger's other project Silverginger5? Last tour was amazing, hope they're doing some new stuff this year (does anyone know??) Also, FYI, 'Random' Jon Poole, bassist extraordinaire in Silverginger5, for all those who witnessed the brilliant gigs, has a superb Frank Zappa covers CD out right now (all shops and amazon.co.uk etc etc) called : "What's the Ugliest Part of Your Body?" where he plays all the instruments and sings, its something else I tell you! Anyone else heard it/got it yet?
