Just to remind you, I asked people to list their top 50 albums of 2005. If they put them in order, #1 scored 5 points, #2 scored 4 points and so on. If they just listed 5 albums they scored 3 points each. Funeral won by and embarrassing margin (169 points to Sufjan's 65). It really does seem to have won the affection of dicerning music lovers every more than any record I can remember (except me of course, I must have been born without the part of the brain that allows people to appreciate it).
Congratulations to former England fast bowler and sometime DiS forummer devonmalcolm who through many hours of complex calculations I proved to have the most 'typical' DiS music taste of 2005.
Also well done to mug-mug-mug, lyle and Placid_Casual who all chose albums that didn't feature in the Top 50. It's good to be different.
yeah
I'm different !
Is this a good thing ?
that
must have taken weeks. nice list. good to see that national at 3!!
Nah
Only took about an hour, I'm a 'whiz' in excel. I kept a running list of all the votes cast as they were added to the thread so it wasn't that difficult.
That's a good list
We are all great
where the buggery is sleater-kinney?!
i hate music.
Checking through my records..
You didn't even vote, fishplums. You've only yourself to blame.
true that.
would five points have got them in there?
Waste of time
Nice one JohnM, but aaarggh! I've just wasted 10 minutes trying to find the thread where everyone listed their 5 fave albums of the year. Aaaaaaarrgh!
Can anyone help - I want to find out if I voted and what I voted for. Haylp!
Your votes:
Wind in the Wires
Year of meteors
Silent alarm
Eye to the telescope
You could have it so much better
And here's the thread:

Aah bless you!
Thanks JohnM!!
I notice that I voted for 2 albums which didn't make the top 50....
But...
Now I see that you probably mean that all 5 of mug, placid and lyle's top albums weren't in the top 50. I am stoopid.
i wondered
about this list. Good job- and an excellent Top 50.
Brilliant!
thanks for that.
But I also voted for an album that didn't make the top 50. I'm claiming to be as cool as lyle then. YES!
4 of mine were outside the top 50.
I'm almost as indie as Lyle, Mx3 and Placid...
I can't afford that many albums
do I suck?
oh, good work John M
what a nice list! I have 13 of them, I'd like all of them.
thanks
for doing all that! sure many of us had forgotted.
Yes that's right Fullerov
You were the fourth most un-DiS person.
Just to clarify, I meant NONE of lyle, Placid_Casual or mug_mug_mug's choices were in the top 50.
Good job sir
A very interesting list.
Only one of my picks was in the top 50... but then again, I think may only have voted for three, and the one I picked was at number 2, so...
Hurrah for John M
and Gimme Fiction would be.. where?
hmph.
I dunno
You chose not to vote for it.
Also I've noticed that mug_mug_mug voted for Deerhoof and so is no longer in the cool gang. I'm guessing the apostrohe he included in runner's is what 'threw' me, in the top 50 list I left it out so it messed up my vlookups.
i want to be really clear :
i am not cool !
In any way !
Thanks !
Balls!
I actually thought I was cool for a second there.
Thanks very much for doing the list! I haven't got the brain for Arcade Fire either.
great list
that top 10 is fucking sweet
I Am
Wildly honoured to be given this award. I would like to thank God, the postman and of course DiS
Ha Ha Ha!
You're typical! Brilliant.
Sterling effort...
...this should be put up on the main site.
