Cat on Form: Get Southern

Brighton melodic shouty punks/noize'ists/goodness that is CAT ON FORM, have signed a deal and play a whole heap of shows...

In a mailout from the highly ethicial foursome, there is news that they've signed a recording contract with SOUTHERN RECORDS home to Godspeed!, Fugazi (who they're oftly lazily compared to) and lots more.

The band had this to say about the deal:
"..this should be the start of a long and beautiful relationship which ends with us all striding off into the sunset happily."

There's also news their self-produced debut album will be out in June - once they've recorded it in Southern Studio's. We can safely say they're one of the best live bands we've seen in a long while. You can catch them touring next week with the pAper chAse and some brilliant supports...

February 2003
13th Bath Moles + Stanton
14th Joseph's Well, Leeds + This Ain't Vegas
15th The Cavern, Exeter + the murder of rosa luxemburg
16th School of Art, Glasgow + Lapsus Linguae

And some extra dates without pAper chAse..
22nd Buffalo Bar, London + kaitO + future ex-wife
7th March Upstairs @ Garage, London + Silver Rocket Clubnight to 2am.

Catch 'em if ya can.

I'll leave you with a rant from their mailout for good measure... "second there is an anti war march on feb 15th in various cities across the country. i'm not gonna waste time explaining the case against war because any one that i call HUMAN knows and understands why killing people is wrong, let alone for reasons as shite as MONEY and POWER. taking a saturday off to stomp around and make our voice heard is hardly a lot to ask. for those who think it's not worth it, you suck - women never got the vote by sitting on their arses and black slaves never got liberated by saying "what's the point". we can change EVERYTHING and never stop believing that. now c'mon, GET UP!"

Cat on Form: Get Southern

they are fucked if they signed to southern.

Re: Cat on Form: Get Southern

how come poor cat? lot's of band's seem to do fine on southern - or is this another fire records or rough trade scenario?

Cat on Form: Get Southern

hate to be all pedantic sean, but technically Cat On Form haven't signed to the same label as Godspeed and Fugazi...Southern just distribute and handle press etc for them, they're still actually 'signed' to their individual labels (Constellation/Kranky and Dischord)...But Les Savy Fav, 90 Day Men and the pAper chAse are all on the actual Southern label, so it's all good!

Re: Cat on Form: Get Southern

Ain't Southern the holding company?

Bleh, I knew someone would say that when I writ it. Cat on Form put it in their mailout and its the same stable of bands innit?

p.s. sarcasm never works online

Re: Cat on Form: Get Southern

AHA!!! now i see - i knew there was a completely sensible explanation for all that unnecessarily nice coverage on Drowned In Sound for Miss Black America & kinesis, ho ho hzzzzzzZZZzz...

misinformation

the cat on form gig in leeds is not with the 'robots. was that just to get some shamelss publicity for the article? probably. anyway, it's actually with the unit ama and the ever-amazing this aint vegas. so there. no robots. oh, and the paper chase, of course. but even they aren't as good as this aint vegas.

gun

Re: misinformation

wasnt our fault. will rectify this tho.

Re: misinformation

the cat on form gig is with the robots, doofus. and with the mighty paper chase and tav.

Re: misinformation

grrr...and now i've gone and changed it. i knew i shoulda rung someone who would've known for certain to check, dammit!

Re: misinformation

ummm, sorry.

it was a good gig though. only realised on the night i fucked up and fucked you up. for the record -

cat on form followed by this aint vegas followed by ...robots followed by 'chase.

sorry

gun

Re: misinformation

actually, the unit ama aren't playing. and none of them new they were robots are headlining. this aint vegas are mediocre at best, so why not go and appreciate the exeter show with the amazing murder of...

Re: misinformation

I did enjoy The Murder Of... when I saw them but don't you think their identikit cloning of The Locust is a bit much? They did have the occasional groove, though.

fuck off!

this aint vegas are amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing! you liar! and yes, the murder of.. ARE the locust except in different outfits. damn it. why does every fucker love those pale imitators of a great band.

gun

because...

well yeah i agree the murder of are not that original YET. but the reason we love 'em is because there are precious few enlgish bands who are prepared to do something that intense and put their all into it. sure, they sound like the locust (more the blood brothers i reckon) but that will change, and it means way more to me that they just give a shit about what they do. so many english bands are so fucking restrained, so conservative, and with the murder of you just get the total opposite to that.

plus i forgot to say...

that all three bands (cat on form, murder of... + this ain't vegas) are playing the freebutt in brighton on april 17th. it's £4, get yo asses there.

Re: because...

i like what you say but not how you insinuate a lack of enthusiasm from all other british bands. that is bollocks. it really, really is. conservative? restrained? are we talking about the same england? get a life you miserable fool. failing that, find some dead sun rising. you'd like them.

gun

Cat on Form: Get Southern

No, The Murder Of ARE The Locust WITH the exact same outfits. That's the point.
