Which individual has had the best individual career? It'd be easy to say someone like Paul McCartney, but Wings weren't great so it's a one band wonder really.
It might seem strange, but you couldn't really top Bernard Sumner; yeah, he's a whiny voiced, ageing, uncool and overweight Manc who can't sing any better now than twenty years ago, but look at what he's done.
Worked with the great Ian Curtis since the formation of Warsaw, throughout truly one of the greatest goth/post-punk bands ever, Joy Division.
Forged a few decent pop songs with legendary Johnny Marr in Electronic and had an enormous influence upon dance and pop with the superb, if patchy, New Order.
He even managed a Chemical Brothers collaboration.
Nice one Bernard, but try to cut down on the "uncle at wedding disco" style of dacning.
