Fickle Public (nee Purple Munkie) are your typical indie punk band. Think Jetplane Landing or Fugazi style attitude mixed with a healthy sprinkling of sharp Rough Trade style pop rock leanings and, of course, this band is Scottish and that never fails to add a bit of spice to proceedings. Their recent, clumsily titled single ‘Just Like I Got Used To Saying Courteney Cox Arquette’ was a breath of fresh air and as soon as the first notes were struck, it was quite clear that the budget recording had done the band no good at all. Infinitely more vital and seething onstage, one can only hope that their forthcoming album, released on Smalltown America, captures their vitriol more ably.
A different prospect entirely is Exit Ten. The youthful quintet come from Reading and are making all the right waves at the moment with their heavy but intricate metal , complete with sometimes soaring vocals. While they have a solid base for a future with tight rhythms and well-practiced guitar lines and riffs, memorably named singer Ryan Redman needs much work if he wants his vocal capabilities to match his clear desire and guile. Fans of Killswitch Engage may be tempted to discover more about Exit Ten’s melodic metal, but before that happens Exit Ten will need to build upon the promise they show here tonight.
Fickle Public play in Bristol soon...
...supported by Kid Carpet. What a strange double bill that's going to be.

fucking genius. i'd go if i had money.
I saw Exit Ten
supporting thisGIRL or someone at the Fez years ago...
...the singer reminded me of Kermit the Frog.
I have no idea why. And that's all I can remember about them.
