just got back from watching Mr Lekman in Salford. (stabbings: nil)
he's ace isn't he? never heart him before. Very Belle and Sebastian/Magnetic fields but with a lyrical charm and a melancholy all his own. his band of beautious swedish ladies offset by the slightly incongruous presence of Bill Wells were really fab too.
and he was supported by Vinny Peculiar who's an interesting manc songwriter. a bit like a jarvis/bowie wannabe with some witty songs. he was performing just acoustic but dancing and jerking to the bits of the songs that are obviously there on the records but which only he could hear.
top one. got 'oh yr so silent jens' straight away and am now listening to 'black cab' while my mac update downloads.
tra la la...
lovely is the word.
there's more goodness here:

No body is going to read this
I know.
However, I don't think it is unhealthy to talk to onself, so I would like to ask anyone is they have, in any format, the song 'Your Arms Around Me' but previously mentioned, lovely Mr. Lekman.
I love it, I know he did it for a radio station down here but I'm not sure if so anywhere else. And I want it.
I suggest
you try Bowlie. they're all gay for him.
..
I have his split 7" with Jose Gonzalez. 300 Only. Put that in your cool pipe and smoke it!
Your arms around me

... oh.
Tonight
was amazing.
Too tired to go into detail right now but I have a hand-written setlist and he played Tram #7 whilst standing on the stairs in the bar. Colour me happy.
i blatantly
saw you, roastthemonaspit, i was standing right at the front and missed out on a setlist but saw the lucky ones who nabbed one. were you taking pictures/ filming/ wearing glasses? ps. thanks jamie summers for the tickets.
.
If you like Jens, check out The Embassy. They're mentioned in Jens' latest blog, and are on the same record label (Srvice).
They're kind of a modern take on baggy, and their last album was one of the critics favourites in Sweden last year.
Coming over for their first UK gig next month to play at Tack!Tack!Tack! on 13 March. check out www.myspace.com/tacktacktack for more info
love the embassy
one of them got beat up by that other swedish band called The Sounds...
Does everyone know where he nicked
samples (I think someone "recreates" them) from? It's a sixties band and I'm sure Grockle will know them...
