Details of new album and single-related movements at camp Muse emerge from the US

US rock bible Rolling Stone has informed folks that the US release date for their as-yet-untitled fourth studio effort will be 16th May, though this has only been confirmed Stateside.

The first single has however been named, 'A Crying Shame' (currently without UK release date as well) will mark their comeback, presumably alongside shows and festival appearances.

DiS fact: Drowned in Sound founder Sean Adams gave Muse one of their first interviews in one of his old fanzines, at the tender age of fifteen. That's worth a high-five if you see him soon.

!

Someone on the Zane Lowe monday night chatrooms (yes I partake in it) told me A Crying Shame was going to be released here on the 16th May.

I doubted it due to the fact I havn't been barraged with adverts for it yet...

i would say they're talking rubbish

as May 16th is a tuesday - hence why it'll be the US release date - so the UK release date will likely be may 15th with, i guess, a single two weeks before on may 1st.

I...

rrrrreaaally love Muse. My first gig was when they supported Ash at the Astoria on the NME tour, obviously, they wiped the floor with Ash. High hopes for the new album...

mine was

muse supported by hundred reasons, it was awesome. i moshed.

mine was

muse supported by 'Tyler'. Where are they now? Who cares?

But Bellamy signed my ticket, which was ace.

mine was

Torquay Riviera Centre. Just before 2nd album released.
That's where I 'found' SoulWax. Amazing gig. Really want to see Muse again, those the mighty wax aren't what they once were... No more Casio guitar :(

that's true

and they made me buy tom waits cds.

who did?

well done them

I like Muse a great deal...

...but A Crying Shame (or at least the live version I've got) is a long way from their best.

Muse are my 'guilty secret'

i really really like them but they don't 'sit well' with everything else I like and seemingly my friends are rather vocal in disgust when i mention them. Hurrah for new elpee of course.

would you

care to share?

That photo

of Bellamy makes me wanna laugh/cry - such a excessively dramatic and indulgent performer.

I remember seeing their cover of "Feeling Good" on the TV some time ago and I found it so tasteless and soulless.

Vocal acrobatics are by and large a bad idea: (obvious influence on Bellamy) Jeff Buckley walked a fine line between having a great voice and being a bit of a whitney/mariah diva (have you heard the live at Sin-E stuff? how many unecessary notes can I fit in to this phrase) - Bellamy is the King of bad-vocal-acrobatics.

I can't fucking wait

A Crying Shame isnt up to scratch from what i've heard, but it's only the live version. Another live song, DES, is what has got me excited

Not

bad on the piano though is he?

Muse are impressive rather than pleasant to listen to.

Yes I

Totally agree. Too much of a good thing.

Ive got the Jeff Buckley live in Chicago DVD. Grace ends up with the most boring 2 mins of vocal acrobatics in the world!

Saying that, i stiff fucking loved the bloke! ha ha

A crying shame..

Sounds pretty good. There's another new one they've been playing with the working title 'debase manson's grog' which it so good it hurts.

Muse

are dogshit. I really don't like them at all.

I just want to say

THANK YOU to Muse.
Their leaving the label released me from that shithole I was working in without having to announce to the boss that I intended to leave - saved me all of that.

Agradece a muchachos

tyler

were awesome. math rocky stuff (before it was cool. but with vocals. odd instrumentation. they split. i cried.

Muse

are ace. I can't be arsed to listen to their albums very often (there's only so much quasi-operatic warbling I can stand in one sitting) but live they're phenomenal. I've seen them three times at Glastonbury - New Band Tent in 99, Second Stage in 2000, and then headlining the Pyramid Stage in 2004, and for some reason it made me feel really proud for them, having seen them get better and bigger over the years - does that make sense?

I love muse

But that story has been floating around since the end of January. The live versions of A Crying Shame sound like its not a bad song but it could be better if they tweak it.

As Seymour mentioned, Muse are the best live band that I will probably ever see. Most people who I speak to who've seen them all agvree that their life had no meaning for about a week afterwards.

Agreed...

Whoever's cussin' on tha Tyler needs a head-checkin'.

More fucking cello in music.

What Rubbish

The first single is not going to be 'A crying shame' (Thank God) the band have said so
