Who'd a thunk it eh? The drummer from Blink 182 (and lest we forget, Boxcar Racer) being involved in a decent, nay good, record? Life is indeed full of surprises.

One of them not being that Travis Barker would offer his services like a shot to a project which involved one of the godfathers of modern punk; Tim Armstrong of Rancid. And it's very much his qualities (ie a good tune married with a pleasing dose of nihilism) which shine through.

Over a rolling, insistent piano and guitar loop which sounds like 'Rock The Casbah' gone to LA Rock School, Armstrong mumbles "It's a wicked world that we live in/it's cruel and unforgiving" like a buggered Marlon Brando. But, y'know, you can still party to it. The second track on the single, self-described party anthem 'Tall Cans In The Air' is utter shite, confirming the suspicion that this is a one-off punk-rap-rock banger. But does that surprise anyone when the drummer from Blink 182 (and lest we forget, Boxcar Racer) is involved?

The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

'Tall cans in the air' is utter shite? Yeah, fuck off! And what do you mean 'you can still party to it'? Its an amazing party song!

Hmmm... maybe its because I liked a few Box Car Racer songs?

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

you complete tit
1 - would you have the same opinion if you didnt know anything about the members of the band? For one it says on their website that all the songs were already written and had electronic drum beats, but then they got travis to records em instead.
2 - Travis is actually one of the best drummers in the world, regardless of the bands he's in
3 - Read points 1 and 2 again, you seem to like repeating yourself...

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

Damned right.

Poor review. I heard this without knowing who done it, thinking 'This is very catchy' but with an edge.

And Travis is a sh1t hot drummer

Fools fools fools

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

The other problem with your review being that the line you quote from the song is actually sung by "one of the godfathers of modern punk" Tim Armstrong. Blah!

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

he's a great drummer
the songs shit tho - seriously, whats going on with tim armstrong trying to do that mutter-y hispanic thing
and that rapper is so shit "in fact we all die!" twat
and must EVERY mention of that song refer to rock the casbah?

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

the piano riff is bloody annoying as is the rapper dude

travis is great though - only thing that makes the song good!

laterzzz xxx

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

I can't see why Travis' day job has any bearing on this song.

I hated it at first, and I still don't really like the vocals, but the piano riff is wicked. It could easily be a Specials outtake.

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

I had no idea who was behind it when i heard it..... i thought it was ace...... i found out who was behind it, it's still ace... as is the album..... and i fucking hate Blink 182.
Travis is a GRATE drummer though.

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

Its an awesome song.
Brilliant to air guitar.
It makes a change for someones side project to actually sound so original.e.g. Lars Frederikson and the bastards and Box Car Racer.

It sounds like the original reviewer has slightly biased views and should not have the right to review anything which might leave an impression on someone who does not dislike bands simply due to who else they play for.

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

Gah! I think everyone is intittled to their own oppion but The Transplants just give me this Good Charlotte vibe *uck*...so yeah..i have to hate them..sorry...
Is it just be who gets this vibe..?

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

I'm a big fan of the Transplants. I've got the album, and yea, some of it's shit - "drugs rule everything around" thanks for sharing, but I'm not looking for Snoop Dogg - but it's fun music, and if you wanted to get philosophical about it, you could... but I recommend you just enjoy it.

The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

this song reminds me of Bombfunk MCs 'fresstyler'. And that was crap aswell.

The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

what was the thing on the tv that this song was on about?

Re: The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

Hair. They were selling hair things. I win. I win.

'But reviewer... The Transplants, and all the people in them are so cooool... don't diss them'.

WELL FUCK YOU.

I WIN.

GREATEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD EVER SELLS HAIR PRODUCTS; LOOKS LIKE TWAT.

The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

This album is amazing for what it is. It's one that blends together so many styles in so many ways. If you compare Diamonds & Guns to D.R.E.A.M. you can see its like a difference between a catchy rock anthem and a half decent rap song. So many people ask, "Is this the same album".

As for the review, "That is utter shite".

(now can i get a job, lol)
