Don't be ridiculous. Slsk my good friend.

I didn't quite understand why this one didn't take off - but I guess that is why I am a sad music dork sat in front of my computer instead of swinging around on chandiliers from my LA mansion like Simon Cowell.

I've just bought that Distophia. Only had a chance to listen to it a couple of times, but it is definitely a grower.
            • Re: Has there been an album of the year thread yet?

Nah, explore their first Best of album (or any of the albums the tracks on there are from), Automatic for the people or Green.

      • Re: Has there been an album of the year thread yet?

We've had several of these threads most notably in response to the DiS albums of the year.

my top3 records of 2003 were

Cat Power - You Are Free
Pretty Girls Make Graves - The New Romance
        Rufus Wainwright - Want One
        • Re: Has there been an album of the year thread yet?

          Just checked Dis's list.

Damn - a top 75 of the year that does not include Kings of Leon!

Have I missed something here. Why has that album fallen off the hipster radar. It sounds like a classic to these ears.

Seriously though - you folks need to check out The Clientele record. They are a London band that no-one in London seems to have heard of - although I believe that they are pretty big in the States and Japan.

The album is stunning - they have a pretty sixties influenced chamber-pop thing going on.

Got to Solsk and download that shit now.
