I've been spinning 'Courtesy and Good Will Toward Men' by Harvey Milk a fair bit recently. They are truly an amazing band. They mix classic rock, classicAL, sensitive balladry (whatever that means) and a fair bit of heavyness into the most amazing soup.

You can see exactly where they're coming from but the album is so idiosyncratic and unique. As I have probably written before, words do music like this no justice whatsoever. Seek out 'Courtesy And Good Will Toward Men'. It could be difficult. Better still, hassle tumult ( http://www.tumult.net ) until they repress it!

If you're going to download one song make it 'One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong' - the best Leonard Cohen cover ever.

The main reason i'm writing about HM today is that I came across their myspace page and it has two brand new songs on it, 'Silly and Small' and 'War'. They are amazing. Silly and Small is a timeless All-American epic and War is a pounding military drum driven bastard.

Listen now and feel free to report back if you think the songs might be as good as I think they are. Just to prove i'm not crazy, y'know.
