how bloody good are this band. album is such a grower and the tunes are so infectious. possibly better than modest mouse. what do y'all think?

probably one of my favourite albums ever.
every track is a winner. so, so good.
i like the album
but wouldn't go as far to say that they're better than Modest Mouse
I liked the EP better.
its just more consistent than modest mouse.
float on is a fucking great sopng though.
i heart wolf parade
a great big load. i don't really know much about modest mouse though apart from float on. worth buying?

are great. So much so infact that I struggle to find a favourite song on the album!
Sons & Daughters you'd think, but then theres shine a light, modern world, its a curse........aggghh!
not as good as modest mouse, go and buy the Moon & Artacia and sit back and enjoy it!!!

good news would be a good starting point but i think the moon and antarctica is a better album.

Its more of a solid album as a whole

Great album
though I think it's a bit early to say they're better than MM as they only have 20 or so songs whilst MM have quite a big back catalogue (not a euphamism)
They are clearly loads better I reckon.
They have a spark that Modest Mouse don't have, no matter how big their back catalogue.
wolf parade
really upset me. Like it's really emotional music, without being emo, or particularly tortured. i think it's to do with the actual sound.
MM > WP
I do love Wolf Parade but Modest Mouse are just something else. Their lyrics are better and they're pretty damn versatile too, they do spazzy and pissed-off just as well as they do expansive and beautiful. Wolf Parade are at their best on their propulsive rock songs (Shine A Light especially) but their slower songs can be a bit clunking at times, but of course it's early days for them.

I love Apologies to Queen Mary and think Wolf Parade are at their best with their frenetic fast paced songs (Dears Sons & daughters, I believe in anything) whilst their slower paced songs don't really do anything for me.
MM can do both and a hell of a lot in between, their lyrics are far superior and they create a great sound.
As said it's early days for Wolf Parade and I think they'll come out with some great songs. That Brocks a clever fella
I agree
that Modest Mouse are a better band, but I get really irritated by their tendency to make overlong albums. Even if Wolf Parade don't write such great material they do produce a good straightforwards rock sound that its' hard to dislike. Unlike mr.Brocks self indulgence.

i found that
wuth good news. some of those songs could have been scrapped and it would have made a better album, but its still great anyways.

but all the tracks really grew on me.
It's a pretty damn good album...
I will invetigate the EP's one day...

The Wolf Parade record is fantastic.
So much fun.
HOWEVER - as much as Brock had a massive influence on them, its a bit stupid to compare them to MM.

Just about every critic worth his salt had this in his top 10 end-of-year poll from last year. Kicks the rear of any Modest Mouse stuff...
