T-Break is an annual 'showcase' (some would say battle-of-the-bands) for new bands in Scotland, giving them the chance to win a place at T In The Park festival in the T-Break tent. Biffy Clyro first made their mark there in 1999, and the lineup for the T-Break gigs this year has been announced tonight.

Bands fighting out for a place at T In The Park's 10th anniversary this year, are as follows:

11 May - Glasgow, King Tut's (doors open at 7.30pm. £4 adv, £5 on door - ditto all Glasgow T-Break gigs)

Alyssa's Wish
The Storm Petrels
The Wow Kafe

12 May - Glasgow, King Tut's

Apparently the above is "subject to change".

Out of all those bands, only 12 will get picked to play T in the Park. The rest over the weekend will be hand-picked by DF Concerts.

One of those band, Alyssa's Wish, will be supporting Jarcrew at the DiS gig at the Windmill, London, on June 25th. *plug plug*

DiScuss: Have you played T-Break before? Good experience? Bad? Is it just a glorified battle-of-the-bands? Is it worth it? Do people take it too seriously?

I dont understand what good "battle of the bands" competitons really do. Bands competeing against each other isn't the way forward and doesn't build bridges between musicians and groups.

If the organisers of this event were really interested and had their finger on the Scottish pulse....wouldn't they know who was good enough and deserving enough of a place ?

That aside, very good luck indeed to small enclosed area who are very nice people.
