Boston punks Dropkick Murphys will be using lyrics from late folk legend Woodie Guthrie, for their fourth album 'Blackout', according to rollingstone.com.

Guitarist Ken Casey told the site: "Woody's grandson knew our band. He went to his mother, Nora, and told her that we would be a good fit to record his music, because we're both products of and champions of the working class."

Nora has given them permission to use Woodie's lyrics. The band were inspired to take this approach after hearing Billy Bragg and Wilco do the same thing on 'Mermaid Avenue'.

"We wanted to do it as differently as possible," Casey explains further, "I just kind of looked at the lyrics and started building a vocal melody around it. God knows what music Mr. Guthrie had meant for his words, but that's how it wound up."
