Enon make strangely beautiful alternative electro pop music. Underpinned by a brushy, hypnotic electronic beat and spooky synthed pellets of sound, Toko Yasuda’s vocals smooth a circling, neon massage over the simple droplets of bass in ‘In This City’, whilst the other songs on this limited EP also boast a moody, ultraviolet glow underneath the churning electronics and glowing lead melody.

Imagine a more interesting Broadcast writing the soundtrack for a ‘sleep’ scene in The Matrix, and you have the dew-eye lethargic sexiness of ‘Carbonation’. It doesn’t quite grab you by the balls, ripping them open as it pulls you in, but there’s a subtle beauty underneath all that sound and space. Proving that progressive music need not be tiresome and overindulgent, Enon could well be worth demystifying.

Enon - In This City

Enon are genius. High Society was the best album of last year. Hurrah!
