It's 1987 and 'Catchphrase' is on the telly, so I look at the guide for the local cinema but all we've got is 'Flashdance', so I listen to the radio and there's Johnny Hates Jazz giving me 'Shattered Dreams'...

But what's this I hear?

Some kind of Tom Hanks soundalike in 'Radio Ga Ga' cum 'Streets Of Philadephia' parody?

Well, before Brucey boy starts kicking Freddie's headstone in anger, listen carefully cos these New Yorkers tell a wicked story about being thirteen and getting erections and making Janey pregnant and... well, it ain't quite the 'Summer Of 69' if you know what I mean kids, but it sounds a lot more fun in A.R.E.-world.

Now bring me some of that lighter fluid and watch me wave those hands.

A.R.E. Weapons - Hey World

Didn't 'Flashdance' come out in about 1983? You coulda used 'Fatal Attraction' or 'Dirty Dancing' y'know.

Re: A.R.E. Weapons - Hey World

Yeah but as you've already pointed out, that would've been too obvious, and anyway, whether Flashdance was released in 1980, 1983 or 1987 it epitomises everything that was cheap and tacky about that decade.

Does that answer your question???

A.R.E. Weapons - Hey World

So... is the song any good? because that review doesnt tell me much...

Pablo

I hate to sound patronising but if I'm saying this record is a lot of fun and it makes me want to wave my hands and award it 7/10 - well I guess that means it's not shit, doesn't it?
