Re: first record you ever bought

O.K. This one will take some thinking, I have got to warn you I am 32 years old now. The first record that I ever bought was not on vinyl, it was on cassette tape! (remember those!) I think it was Michael Jackson's Thriller!!! Pretty lame huh!!!!

Re: first record you ever bought

I'll put one better.. or worse.. Kiss:Asylum. And of course on tape! It's one of their worst albums, but hey..

Re: first record you ever bought

Smooth Criminal (Single) Micheal Jackson. Actually I still quite like it. But I don't have a record deck any more.

Re: first record you ever bought

Hi my name is Dave. And I was addicted to dum-de-dum-de-dum-de-dum (and it was my Dad's fault). When I was 8 I bought 'Down Down' by Status Quo. Thank you veryone for sharing. It's been a great help.

Re: first record you ever bought

ok i'll just be honest about it although i'll probily never live it down:
bought at same time-
spaceman (single) by babalon zoo &
feelin hot hot hot (single)-dont remember who by. :(

Re: first record you ever bought

Equally embarrasing .. 'Hole In My Shoe' by Neil out of The Young Ones. Oh dear

Re: feeling hot, hot, hot

I think that that was buster poindexter trudy!

Re: first record you ever bought

To be honest I've never bothered with singles - it sounds a bit strange, I guess, but I absolutely reviled pop music until I came accross Oasis when I was about 10 or 11 or something (yeah, shoot me).

So I ended up buying a few crappy "Brit-pop" albums like Ocean Colour Scene and stuff, but I've never actually owned anything *truly* embarrassing.

Re: first record you ever bought

I bought the Mmmbop! album by Hanson when I was 8. I also bought It's Like That by Run DMC vs Jason Nevins when I was 8 too. I apologise profusely. Thank fuck for QOTSA.

Re: first record you ever bought

that means that you can only be about 15 now?? Ooooo you young whipper snapper!

Re: first record you ever bought

It was actually bought for me, it was bewitched lolol!!!! arghhhh the same!!!

Re: first record you ever bought

"Just Say No" by the Grange Hill kids.

Beat that.

Re: first record you ever bought

oh, i think i can. Because We Want To by Billie Piper. embarrassing enough? i have got better since tho...

Re: first record you ever bought

Blimey, I don't know what the first single was, but I remember using my birthday money when I was about 12 on a tape of 'The Heat' by The Dan Reed Network. Quality stuff. Not heard 'em for years mind you, so it'll probably sound crap now, but ace at the time nonetheless.

Other notable purchases around the time were albums by Damn Yankees, Kingofthehill, and Jackyl - they of 'She Loves My Cock' fame. Oh dear...

Cheerio,

Ian http://twang.topcities.com (I might even get around to updating it at some point)

Re: first record you ever bought

I bought 'Tango in the night' by Fleetwood Mac with birthday money. Oh the horror, the unspeakable horror. First singles include 'We call it Aciiied' by Gary Haismann and D-mob and 'You give love a bad name' by Bon Jovi. The first CD single I bought was 'Runaway train' by Soul Asylum.

At this point I think I'm just glad that my ringtone isn't 'Right here waiting' by Richard Marx, like the geezer next to me has on his.

Re: first record you ever bought

Single: Everybody Hurts - REM
Album: Automatic For The People - REM

Re: first record you ever bought

Love Me Do by The Beatles.
It was an ex-juke box single which I picked up for 49 1/2p. I've still got the single but haven't played it in years.
