So, their new album is coming out April 18th in the US. Is it different in the UK? and yeah....i heard a couple songs off of it and it sounds really good. what do yall (yes, i live in the southern US haha) think?

The new Dresden Dolls album is the best thing I've heard all year. It's one of those records that makes most pop writing look completely lazy.
Probably it will do really badly because most record buyers are young, shallow and slightly sexist. But who cares, eh?
How does it compare to the first album?
IMHO
It's a massive improvement. The songs are much more accessible and witty.
If you're favourite Dolls thing was those slow moody ballads you might not like it so much (although there's two of those). But if you liked the more pacey Gravity / Girl Anachronism type stuff it's flawless.
The main thng I noticed was the subtlety / complexity of the songwriting. There's loads of really clever foreshadowing of melodies and surprising twists and stuff. Can you tell I really like it?

I do prefer the faster, quirkier side of the first album, so I am wuite happy about the sound of this one. The first album's ballady bits did kinda lose their way at points, I thought.

the 1st album to bits and have a feeling that if this one sounds like people are saying it is they're going to be HUGE in a few months.

I really really cant wait for this album. haha. I've only heard three of the songs, one was a slower one, ANd i have to say, i dont like those songs. haha. Slow is not for me, but all the others, Bang on.
