Ex-Sunny Day Real Estate Chaps Sign A Deal, Release CD, Etc

The Fire Theft have just signed to Rykodisc and are currently putting the finishing touches to their album.

The band are made up of the core songwriters from deceased, cult emo popsters Sunny Day Real Estate, whose 'Diary' album is the second-biggest seller on Sub Pop - behind Nirvana's 'Bleach'.

After SDRE's split, they're back with The Fire Theft and have been in an LA studio with producer Brad Wood. Release date for the album is targeted for Sep 23rd in America and Oct 7th everywhere else. The Japanese version will carry an extra track.

The band are set to tour western Europe later this year.

The DiS reader who provided us with this news is said to be "as happy as a pig in shit" about the announcement.
