'I Am A Demon And I Love Rock & Roll' was clearly one of the best singles of the past year - a genius, snotty, ridiculous masterstroke, a musical act of God which in itself justified Sweatmaster's support slot with The Darkness at the tail end of last year. Unhappily, it looks like it might have been a one-off from the Finnish would-be rock gods.

'Well Connected' sounds like one of many out-takes The Hives would have quite reasonably discarded after a gruelling month in the studio. Fast, tinny guitars - check; rattling drums and over-use of the hi-hat - check; attitude....... attitude?? Anyone? Fuck. That's torn it. There's little to react to except its absolute failure to make any impact whatsoever on the terrain of your memory.
