Every once in a while, it does one good to spend half an hour jumping around and gobbing off like a hyperactive schoolkid with tourettes. It's just finding that perfect excuse, an ideal trigger point if you like, that can manifest that "Kevin The Teenager" moment inside us all.
Enter Dirty Little Faces and their sublime debut single 'Finding It Hard', which combines the feeling of reaching 5.30 on a Friday afternoon and 8.30 on a Saturday evening into three glorious minutes of adrenalin-fuelled spunk pop. While obvious comparisons will be drawn with the likes of The Clash, The Jam and The Libertines, what sets Dirty Little Faces apart from the rest of the skinnyfit leather jacket wearing rabble is their seemingly effortless ability to write a chorus within a chorus, so that you're actually singing along to the verses - something that no one since Paul Weller in his earlier days managed to achieve with such a combination of spite, bile and eventually, relief.
Flipside 'It's Never Enough' is just as pulsating, which can only mean they've been popping a bit of extra zest in the water systems of Peterborough recently.
Now try and sit still if you can...
them
I saw this band last night, I wasn't overly impressed. Just seemed like the usual indie rock by numbers. Every song seemed to sound the same, but hey, maybe I wasn't paying any attention
dirty little faces
Dont know where you saw them but I saw them at The Met Lounge in Peterborough on Saturday night - busiest I've seen the place since Rifles/Milburn gig and reaction to DLF was easily on a par to these bands!!.
moc
Yeah I saw them at the met, was busy, but then it was the 'homecoming' gig. The first two songs I didn't mind, but then I got increasingly bored. but ah mate, the rifles! Just another one of the endless jam rip-off bands that have been coming out over the last coupla years!
