I wanted to book a flight to NY and some wanker had bought white goods (not Ipods or laptops, kids - the traditional use of the word). It took 8 weeks but I got the money back from Natwest - it didn't match my spending habits and looked rather suss (ie, at that time it would have been bottle shops, and the like - he he eh).
You will be ok - report it asap and get the crime/fraud squad at your bank onto it.
it should be pretty obvious it wasn't me spending that money as it's an account I barely use so it won't match my spending patterns. Still, I've said it before and I'll say it again:
I got an emergency call from my bank saying that it appeared that somebody had run off to Brighton with my credit card and spent all of my money. Sadly it was me.
and got ripped off by £500, which pushed me over my overdraft limit, meaning i didnt have any access to money for a few weeks till i got refunded.
And the bastard bank wouldn't extend my overdraft, even though it was their fault i reckon. I mean, why design cash machines with recessed card holes, so you can put fake fittings in them?!
This accusation didnt go down well with the bank, which might explain their lack of sympathy. Hope you have better luck!
Yes - this happened to me a few years ago

This hasn't yet happened to me but it's only a matter of time.
I did think it had once but I then realised there'd been a thing where I had to cover a new housemate's deposit before the old could pay me back.
i bought a new handbag
someone at work had their card cloned or something
and lost thousands in a few days.
t'was not nice.
this happened to my flatmate
and they took well over £1,000.
he got it back though so don't worry too much about it.
Cool
