We Are Scientists and Forward Russia

So I saw WAS, being supported by Forward Russia last night at the Academy.

What a change of opinion I had. Don't get me wrong, I think FR's music is much too random and 'unconventional' for me. I wouldn't be able to listen to their album if I was reading in my room or something. But they just seemed to shine, live. The singer fits around like a lunatic, and they don't look particularly good on stage, but they seemed to be brilliant. How they got everyone dancing, I don't know, but they did. If you like them and haven't seen them, do. Even I was singing along to Nine and Twelve.

As for WAS, their music seemed fine. A couple of weird things though... They really connect with the crowd like I've not seen anyone do in the past. They're far from one of my favourite bands (I think they're very average), but they just talk all the time, to the crowd, to eachother, to the supports selling their merch etc... Its shocking how different people like the Secret Machines are, that don't even thank the crowd for applause.
Second weird thing... the crowd. It was like half emo/indie kids, half bold, cap-wearing, burberry-clad lager louts, sweating like Danny Glover in Predator 2.

It always seems to be the gigs I least look forward to that impress me the most.

dont get me wrong i love w.a.s but ihad to pay £25 for a ticket because it had sold out:/

looking forward to it now!

anyone know whether it's just forward russia supporting?

i'm going to watch forward russia soon

i'm not massively impressed by what i've heard, but perhaps a live performance might change my mind too.

Oh it will,

I reckon.

They're pretty friendly too. I shuck Whiskas' finger because his hand was full of masking tape.

They're ace live...

Proof their friendly...I got to speak and pictures with them all.

Look at the pics, or don't as the case probably is.

fr! live

agreed, they fucking rock. pure energy. before i got to see them, i wasn't quite sure what the hype was about; they just seemed to quirky. but having seen them twice now, the music makes sense now. it's fucking epic. i can't wait for the cd to come out....

& fuck we are scientists. they are just so completely average & nothing exciting. i find them semi-emo as well.

Nothing exciting?

You rate Battle 9/10.

Are you sure he didn't mean Battles?

I really like We Are Scientists. They're fun, harmless indie-pop America-style.

Having seen iForward, Russia! twice I can safely say that I don't get what the fuss is about at all.

He's still right though,

nothing exciting or original.

He's neither right nor wrong if you think about it.

But live, they are quite ace.

i meant battle

not battleS. & having seen them live too (battle that is), i wasn't all too impressed. but still much more impressed than we are scientists.

pt 2.

& battle gets a 9 because of demons. i absolutely ADORE that song. tendency is a good song, but the rest are mediocre.
