She's not the world's 'best' singer or guitarist.
Go and listen to Mariah Carey or Joe Satriani. Yeah, boring, isn't it? Emmy's got songs about STUFF, which she performs with gumption. That's why she was ace at the Buffalo Bar t'other night. And yeah, she's hot.

you were probably the guy talking disrespectfully all over her set, not giving her a chance. not giving yourself the chance to let her into your world.
emmy is a classic folk star, with a modern twist on storytelling.
you may not get it but a 1000 people in brighton (one of her biggest gigs to date) watching her support martha wainwright loved it and laughed at all the funny bits.

i HEART emmy
in a totally musical, non-sexual way. she's brilliant. it takes a lot of guts (yes, and talent) to deliver that kind of material and to do it with such style.
in my defence
i asked someone to tell me why , i didnt say they werent allowed to like it. And with respect there is no way i would talk through anyone's set..there is an upstairs bar at the hanbury...which if i had wished to talk i would have gone to. Rather i gave her my full attention. I just didnt enjoy it very much.
Im afraid i didnt find anything new to it. i didnt want her to be the best guitarist or the best singer or the best anything. I just wanted her songs to move me, or touch me in some kind of way. Sadly it didnt. Maybe it was technical problems but she looked hugely uncomfortable with what she was doing when i saw her and perhaps that particular performance wasnt her best. Still, I will be at the hanbury again and give her another go.
I'm sorry i expressed an opinion...having read other posts criticising bands on various articles i thought it would be ok to do so.
