Just wondering if I'm missing any essential ones. At the moment I have:

Raekwon-Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Ghostface- Ironman/Supreme/Fishscale
GZA- Liquid Swords
ODB-Return to the 36 Chambers

nooooo

only ODB's first is worth owning.

unless you're a completist.

to be honest, you've got the best ones.

just get every ghostface album and maybe investigate RZA's first Bobby Digital lp as it has some 'bangers' on it.

"Fishscale" is the fucking tops.

I'm unsure

about Fishscale, it's the first Wu LP i've got in ages and apart from a few standout tracks like RAGU I'm not liking it too much.

!

i can't fathom why...

it's ghost's best since Supreme Clientele, and i really loved Pretty Toney.

.

Each to there own I guess, I just much prefer the older stuff really.

everyone does really

but since Wu Tang turned shit, only "Supreme Clientele" and "Fishscale" have really excited me about a Wu release.

what don't you like? the beats are the best on a Wu release since Supreme Clientele (perhaps even better than that) and Ghost is on top form.

"Whip You With A Strap" is one of my favourite Wu records ever already.

not essential

but the last Raekwon one's (The Lex Diamonds Story) been getting a lot of play round mine recently.

Method Man - Tical maybe? I don't listen to it much these days but I loved it when it came out. Release Yo' Delf and Meth Vs Chef are class. In fact I'm going to dig it out now...

And the Masta Killa one had some really good tracks, considering it was one of the latest solo albums.

Bobby Digital was utter shite. Sorry man!

WUTANG

Any of Method Man's worth having?

only got the odb best of and liquid swords (which is absolutely mint),
was tempted by the pretty tony album after hearing ghost play it live,

anyone heard that underground makeover comp (dunno what its called had Doom et al remixing i think?)

^^

obv posted that before i read kovacs

U-God?

Yes.

"Think Differently" it's called. It's a load of crap songs with the occasional half decent bit. It has the worst piece of music ever associated with the Wu Tang on it, the ODB Tribute, which is a load of clips of ODB lyrics badly mixed together. It's embarassing.

The RZA/MF Doom one is the only thing worth hearing.

Method Man's solos

are notoriously patchy...

worth getting if Bobby Digital is.

I still like the 1st Bobby Digital LP, "NYC Everything" is a classic, as is "Holocaust", and there's some other bits of interest.

That Masta Killa LP was surprisingly good, yeah. It almost sounds like house sometimes.

the worst thing about Wu solo LPs is that almost all of them have at least one complete classic on them even if the rest of the LP is utter dick.

i'm not including the U-God LP in there. What was i thinking??

there's an LP by some Virginia based affilates called Wu-Syndicate that had production by Mathematics and it was surprisingly really fucking good, 1998 i think... the song that was on the "Killa Beez" compilation was cracking. That comp had "Cobra Clutch" by Ghost as well, which is an absolute classic.

oh yeah

I bought that comp right in the middle of my obsession with buying EVERYTHING Wu-Related. There were quite a few decent songs on it, none of which I can remember. Black Knights or something?

I agree, if ever a 'group' neede a decent, well thought out double-disc Best Of, with all the good tracks off the ropey solo albums collected, it's the Wu Tang Clan. What would go on there?

Cappadonna - Slang Editorial
Masta Killa - No Said Date...?

ooh

the song Ghostface did with Charli Baltimore that sampled Beethoven... "Stand Up"

i can't remember the ones off Deck's albums...

"Afterparty" by Ghost & Meth, don't know where that was released...

"Snuffed Out", which was a verse by Streetlife on a Meth LP that was apparently a 'skit' and still the best thing on the CD...
