According to an email sent to fansite SimplyPaz.com, Zwan bassist Paz Lenchantin has left the band to work with fellow Zwan member David Pajo on his Papa M project.

The band are currently recording under the name Djali Zwan having cancelled their European tour, and it's not clear whether or not Pajo is still working with them.

Paz joined Zwan from A Perfect Circle, and was recently replaced by Twiggy Ramirez from Marilyn Manson. In her email to the webmaster of Simply Paz, she wrote...

"I want to let you know that I am no longer with Zwan. My experience with Zwan has been great but it is time for me to move on to new projects. This fall, I will be dedicating my time with David Pajo as Papa M. I am currently rehearsing for our up coming shows in October. We also hope to start recording shortly after that."

In related news, Billy's former Pumpkins bandmate, James Iha, has also joined A Perfect Circle, replacing Troy Van Leeuwen, who is now a full-time member of Queens Of The Stone Age. The second APC album is due later this year, preceded by the single 'Weak And Powerless'.

It's getting laughable now... they should just form a rock supergroup equivalent of Polyphonic Spree and be done with it.

You can add Hole, Matthew Sweet, Elvis Costello, Mogwai, Guns N' Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Catherine, Stereolab, Tortoise, Chavez, Marianne Faithfull, Lisa Marie Presley, Ric Ocasek, Failure... the tentacles are pretty far reaching.

a bit unfair to lump Papa M in with the rest, since they're all rock monsters (at least the early posted contributions are), while Pajo is the true American journeyman.

Billy Howerdel (APC) was a guitar tech for Guns N' Roses, and members of NIN have worked with Axl.

David Pajo toured with Mogwai I think, or helped them in some capacity... and they rave up his stuff with Slint. :)

Praps we should do a monthly challenge, for instance, how to get from Papa M to Christina Aguilerarara ? non?

Possible rules for a 6 degrees of music separation game

1) Six moves.

2) Collaborations, covers and band membership are key.
Appearing on the same compilation is not valid.

3) No obscure references to technical or background staff, bar producers and remixers. Recording in the same studio is (questionably?) valid.

4) Touring together should count but festival line ups are a bit iffy and loosely defined. Playing together live counts anywhere (ex: Idlewild & coxon at Reading)

5) Impossibly obscure bands shouldn't really be chosen
(Ex: Guitar Wolf to Noah's Arkweld, anyone?)

6) Pop bands are shite. Mostly they don't play their instruments, and often can't sing. This means that they aren't musicians; so unless explicitly agreed by participants, only superstars should be used.

Those sound ok?
