Slow Riot

is easily theior most potent piece of work Raz - you knows it.

Everything

Every little second.

definitive list

fsharpasharpinfinity
slow riot
skinny fists
----
yanqui

the little dash line indicates the point at which they stop being AWESOME.

has to be

Skinny Fists

Is it just me or is F#A# actually not that great?

It's just you

But Slow Riot is clearly the best thing they did.

The

only one I have is F#A#, and it's alright but not as great as I thought it might be, even though Pitchfork love it. I think I prefer A Silver Mt Zion.

the 2nd disc of skinny fists

no actually

F#A# because it has the bit were it goes quite and they all sing "da da da da, da da da da, da da da da da, da da da da" thats my favourite

It's just you

skinny fists is a bit samey. the dissonant bits aren't as well realised. there's too much bombast. not enough reflective/subtle or quiet bits to give it a dynamic it's just all quietquietlouderlouderlouderLOUDLOUDLOUDquietagain

don't get me wrong I think it's a 9/10 but fsharpasharp is a 10.

Slow Riot is the best work

but its only an ep

the best album is F#A#O in my opinion

I don't get why

people don't like Yanqui, I find it's far more coherent and has less of the 'five-minutes of post-rock followed by three hours of ambient boredom' structure. I think they continued to improve throughout. Have they really split for good now?

That's precisely why

The ambient bits are the best, without them the constant post rock crescendos are stripped of significance. Yanqui UXO has good bits, but it's a boring listen compared to their earlier stuff.

No.

The ambient bits are great, full stop. If there was no crescendo, they'd be great. They're absolutely stunning.

ja

18 minutes into Providence on F#A#OO is the best thing they've done.

damn straight about the ambient brilliance, not boredom

the godspeed field recordings simply improve the post-rock bits so much more by giving a kind of context and adding atmosphere - they add structure to the whole record rather than breaking it apart.

I like them both.

But I prefer skinny fists to FsharpAsharp-funnysquiggleSTARinfinity or whatever it's called.

another hand for skinny fists

the last eight or so minutes of sleep is perhaps my favourite piece of music. awe-inspiring.
