For the first and possibly last time it’s the Guy and Bammo show. Bammo, as we are told near the beginning of the gig, is a scouser and also Elbow’s guitar tech. So every time Bammo makes an appearance onstage we’ve to cheer, clap, shout her name… anything.

But before Guy introduces Bammo to the audience, he and the rest of the band have already played three songs. Opening with ‘Ribcage’, it is Elbow at their finest: "pull my ribs apart and let the sun inside" cries the broken-hearted one desperately.

There’s cheering and clapping. Yes, Elbow have just finished a heart-stopping rendition of ‘Red’ when the song has never sounded so beautiful but Bammo has also appeared. "She’s nicked yer wallet" screams one audience member. "Yeah, she’s being doing it all day. She calls it street theatre, I call it crime". Elbow may have the reputation as being the most miserable bands right now but just now Guy is giving most of stand-ups on The Fringe a run for their money.

"This is off our new album and it’s out tomorrow. Will you buy it please? Because I need more money to buy a new suit". The band then launch into ‘Switching Off’. It’s quintessentially Elbow but without the trademark sentiment: Guy has finally had enough and wants you out. Now. But whatever bitter taste has been left is quickly removed by instant crowd-pleaser, ‘Newborn’. It’s a fitting finale to the last ever Bammo and Guy show
