Placebo are set to release a 2-disc version of their last album which includes all the covers the band have recorded to date.

The special version of 'Sleeping With Ghosts' is set for release through Hut Recordings on September 22nd (a week after their next single 'Special Needs') and along with the usual cover suspects such as T-Rex classic '20th Century Boy', there are some previously unreleased tracks such as the band's rendition of Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill'.

The full additional CD tracklisting is as follows :-

Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush)
Where Is My Mind (The Pixies)
Bigmouth Strikes Again (The Smiths)
Johnny And Mary (Robert Palmer)
20th Century Boy (T-Rex)
The Ballad Of Melody Nelson (Serge Gainsbourg)
Holocaust (Alex Chilton)
I Feel You (Depeche Mode)
Daddy Cool (Boney M)
Jackie (Sinead O' Connor)

Also, as we all know, the band are playing Reading/Leeds this weekend on the main stage so catch them there if you haven't seen them already.

DESPERATION!!

Re: Placebo Cover Up

F*** you all Placebo rock!

Placebo Cover Up

Why couldnt they just release it as an ep? Im not wasting my hard earned money on it again. I hate it when record companies do this, only idiots buy albums twice.

Re: Placebo Cover Up

To be fair, with the albums getting progressively worse, Placebo need all the tricks they can muster. A lot of the covers featured really suffer for having that whiny voice on them.

Re: Placebo Cover Up

Too true-if it wasn't for the whiney vocals Placebo would be much better.

Don't take it personally but..."whiny voice"?? Whose voice? Yours?... :)

Why do you even bother to post this unfortunate comment if you don't like their sound? And by the way, i bet that "whiny voice" is better than yours!
Did you know that psychologists say that whwn someone criticizes something, they're usualy trying to cover up envy or some kind of complex? Maybe you should meditate on this...
Honestly, i think Placebo don't really need tricks to have success, sell records or have fans all around the world so, they sure won't miss you!
Don't take it personally but, everyone has the right to their own opinion but, unlike you, i think Placebo's better than ever, with a much more mature and balanced sound! Maybe you should consider changing your music taste...
With all the respect from a true Placebo fan!!

Re: Placebo Cover Up

well most people, if they're true fans, should have a fair few of those songs already, seeing as some are b-sides

Re: Placebo Cover Up

i dont think the albums are getting progressively worse at all. placebo and without you i'm nothing are fantastic, as is sleeping with ghosts. it's just black market music that was a bit dodgy. at least he's got something unique about his voice and they perform amazingly well live. im not saying that cuz im a biased fan who adores brian etc im not interested in them for who they are i just really enjoy their music but people should respect that not everyone is going to have the same taste. doesnt mean u have to slag a band off tho cuz it can offend people who really do like them. also, i bought the first version of sleeping with ghosts and then bought the one with the covers on and plan to sell the first one cuz there's no point in having two. altho yes most of the covers are b-sides already it's nice to have them all on one cd to be able to listen to cuz its a completely different style to the rest of their work and i cant download music online any more cuz im on a uni network and it wont let me

Re: Placebo Cover Up

tsk, and I thought this thread was all about Brian's bald patch, going by the title...
yr damn right though that "b.m.m" was a bit dodgy, and then some..

Re: Placebo Cover Up

BMM was total crap. There were a couple of tunes that were good. Not many
They really lost their way after the first 2 albums, im pleased to say i enjoy the latest lp. So loves not lost.

Placebo Cover Up

I think the covers are more for, say, the North American fans, since most of the b-sides were unavailable to us except through the Internet.

Placebo Cover Up

um the album was good but do i really have to buy it again for the two or three songs i dont have
internet is calling, i must resist
repeat after me

Placebo are a talented, unusual band.. and they may have had some strange songs but nobody is perfect, and as they are playing what they want to i think it's great. The album BBM was their worst (but it wasn't shit) but the singles off it were pretty cool, loving the SPECIAL K video! I love Placebo and all their wierdness..
