i've gone right off them

lately. no idea why...

ive not listened

to them for ages but this got me quite excited. Although ive got a feeling that its not goin to be that great....

:O

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeeeeeeeey

happy!

GET IN!!

I knew this already, mind. But still.

when it says smashing pumpkins

who does it actually mean?

I beleive it's Billy, Jimmy, MAdM and fuck knows who else. Not exactly the Pumpkins, but they're doing better than Don Caballero.

hmmm. as i kinda thought

but jimmy and billy never even bloody split up, did they? theyve been together near constantly. so the reformation amounts to them giving up on trying to do anything different and drafting in mellisa.

well

jimmy was in zwan while that lasted, but wasn't involved in billy's solo record beyond one or two tracks though.

i don't really mind - all it seems to mean is that billy will keep on releasing records but the live shows will include pumpkins hits, which = YEAH.

hah

gosh, that one was a while ago. i remember that, he hastily arranged another gig for the next night and played a 90 minute acoustic set. lucky aussie bastards :D

i really hope it's better than

billy + jimmy + miscellaneous.

imagine he patched things up with pajo! that'd be (unlikely but) sweet.

the important thing here!

was seen with iha and d'arcy!

For me...

no Iha = no deal.

why?

no offence to Iha, but it's not as if he was an integral part of the songwriting..

I know...

I totally admit that it's completely irrational and not based on anything solid - I just think he's the man!

Oh, also

I think I'm a bot of a traditionalist at heart and it wouldn't be the Pumpkins unless it was the 'classic' line-up... although I think D'Arcy is in a bit of a mess these days right?

I agree

No Iha = not as good, I think he was under-appreciated, although treated like a second rate session musician at times.

No need

for that 'although' there.

come on

Iha's delay/feedback/sustain/utter noise guitar work on the Adore tour will be missed... Ahem...

Nice

I was listening to Siamese Dream on the way to work this morning for the first time in ages. How spooky. By spooky I mean vaguely coincidental.

Yay x a billion

OMG LIEK WOAH

amazing news! I suspect the new stuff may turn out crap but if I get to see them live it will all be worth it :D

Good news indeed.

this makes Glen Chap a happy boy.

Bah!

I want to see D'arcy playing with them, and James Iha too.

I hate bands reforming with like 2 of the original members. At least when Plant and Page do it they don't call themselves Led Zeppelin.

but

the Pumpkins was never a songwriting unit.

In fact, Corgan play pretty much all the guitars and bass on Siamese Dream because Iha and D'Arcy were involved in a relationship and had a massive falling out.

Usually it might bother me, but in this case it doesn't really..

I'm not sure about that.

I was reading a big article about it and Iha said it was a huge exaggeration.

Still I know what you're saying about the song-writing thing, but its just some complex I have. I won't be fulfilled until I see them onstage together.

i spose it's one of those things

where nobody except those involved will know the truth.

i don't think you'd ever see the original lineup back together anyway. d'arcy has, from all reports, become something of a hermit and runs an antique shop or something in between bouts of plastic surgery. and that was after she fired for being a druggie and subsequently arrested for posession..

Hahahaha.

Its a shame. Such talented musicians laid to waste whilst half-hearted idiots who can play a few chords on guitar become huge (Cunt).

*cry*

i had a teenage crush on d'arcy. now she looks like leslie ash, and notin agood way.

hooray

I hope it's not shit.

That's all i have to say

i'll keep an open mind - yeah right!

I think someone said it above but this will just be Zwan with a different bass player and then maybe "today" and "tonight tonight" played at the live shows.

Hopefully they will do a Pixies and do a tour made up entirely of classics. But that's not Corgan's style is it. Lets hope he gets in the zone, because he is an incredibly talented songwriter, and a unique singer and guitarist. Zwan could have been awesome, but it wasn't, so there's nothing to say this can't be awesome. Just that it probably won't be.

there were a lot of good Zwan songs

but they just didn't make it onto the album...

I dunno Guntrip...

I thought that Lyric song (think it was the 2nd single) was amazing.

Zwan weren't terrible

just very average.
i rarely have any desire to listen to the album.

Me neither really....

I just love that tune.
