Good Charlotte have become this year's Daphne & Celeste by being bottled off the stage at Reading festival.

Earlier today, the band had to cut their set short by 20-minutes as a stream of bottles were thrown at them by the crowd.

After getting so fed up with it and on the count of three, they got the crowd to throw them all at once. They then walked offstage and threw their toys out of the pram.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Its called empathy, just imagine how you would feel if you had bottles thrown at you to go offstage eh?! I personally wouldnt like it, and as I'm a fan of Good Charlotte, you all have a sick mind, theyve done a lot to get where they are now, and i bet a lot of you would kill to be in their shoes OK?!

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

OH, HAPPY FUCKING DAY!

I'm so happy to hear this news I'm grinning from ear to ear.

Fan-fucking-tastic.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

The clash used to be spat at on stage.Ouch a plastic bottle. Fucking wake up. Good charlotte are about as far away from punk as 21st century culture will let them be. All those people cant be wrong, usually the fans are at the front, guess they didnt show up eh?

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

and ha

great days makes you proud to be british!!!

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Actually, I would kill if I were *in* Good Charlotte's shoes. Probably myself. They're funny. Not good, just bloody funny.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

why are u people wasting ur time bad mouthing bands u dont like on here when u could be out with ur friends... or dont u have any? fair enough if ur checkin out what people hav said about bands u like, but god, get a life dudes!

Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

How rude! I personally like Good Charlotte, and I think that whoever threw bottles at them should put themselves in their shoes, and imagine how they feel, its called empathy people!!!

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

I imagine they feel bruised and upset.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

I doubt it - they dodged those bottles remarkably well. Besides, there's only so much damage plastic can do from 30 yards away. And as for upset, I doubt it. They got far more cheers than boos throughout.

Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Well, i was there, and i wouldn'tve described it as being "bottled off". i mean yeah it was pretty bad when they came on, and stuff was gettin thrown at them constantly, but it wasnt as bad as daphne+celeste! I didnt notice that their set was cut short. but hey, if drownedinsound wanna cause some controversy, feel free :p

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

That's not how other eye witnesses have described it.

Serves you right for watching Good Charlotte. HAHAHAHAH.

Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

WHAT? That wasn't what happened at all. I saw it myself. The set wasn't cut short. The singer said 'We're shit today and I'm don't know why', but it was all very good natured, and on two occasions they asked people to throw the bottles at them in unison.

I'm not sticking up for them - I couldn't believe how diabolical they were - but this story that's circulating just isn't true. This seems to have come from one source and spread like a chinese whisper. Lazy journalism.

See also: Channel 4 Teletext page 161 for a similar take on the (true) story.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Also NME. http://nme.com/news/105988.htm

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

i agree...i found their set boring even though i used to quite like them, but to be fair they handled the situation brilliantly, and if they left early (which i didnt even notice) they didnt do it in a "throwing toys out of pram way" they left perfectly normally. i even felt a little sorry for them, lol. but yeah, they handled it really well.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Seems to be a lot of people disagreeing with this one.

Let's just hope they 'handled' it (cutting 45 min set by 20 mins) better than they handled their DiS interview on Friday, eh?

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

They DIDN'T cut their set short by 20 minutes. They did the full length. Where is this coming from? I saw it myself... and to repeat, I thought they were dreadful so it's not like I'm sticking up for them!

Cheers,
Damian.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

so if they didn't cut their set sort early, who did? cos the main stage on sunday was running something like 20 minutes early. SOAD were sposed to be on at 19.45 . When I left Har Mar at 19.30, they had already started.....

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Good charlotte started about 10 minutes early so it may have looked like they finished early too but in fact they did a full set.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

so they came to reading, one of the biggest festivals in the world, with a set which was too short to fill their allocated time slot???

that's a load of fucking bollocks, that.
what kinda band leaves the stage early anyways???

Oh yeah, i know, those walking-pieces-of-shit bands who are getting bottled....

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

I thought Good Charlotte were pretty good, well, okay. I was dancing. Admittedly I was off my tits, but I was dancing. Give GC a break kids. If you hate them, you didn't have to watch them, and if you like them, cool. And they did encourage the bottling - to begin with it was mild at best, a million miles away from the great Daphne and Celeste bottle-fest and Kelly Osbournes recent dressing down at Game On. They encouraged the whole thing (crafty work - get all the bottles thrown at once, thus less are thrown later - good move guys). I thought they handled themsleves remarkably well, and I have something of a new-found respect for them. Still utterly shite mind...

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

"you didn't have to watch them"
actually, the main stage really is very loud...

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Posted on goodcharlotte.com messageboard:

"During GC's performance, the crowd threw masses of bottles at the band, raised middle finger's high, booed and held aloft stupid-assed signs like "even avril rocks harder than you"."

Ha ha.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

i spoke to those guys with that sign just before they came on! it was just funny - it said 'GOOD CHARLOTTE SUCKS! in big black capitals and they were right in full view of the band!!

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Well, I thought they were considerably better than some of the other bands on offer that day. Well, Sugarcult anyway.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

sugarcult

ha!
i hear that the reason that noone knows them is that p-rock bought the rights to their videos

ha

p-rock.

i managed to put a sugarcult sticker on the back of a friends blank tshirt. poor bastard got pitying looks for a while

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

i liked it when they introduced the guy who actually plays the guitar parts live that they can't do

ollie.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

i just wanted them to shut up and get off the stage.
i thought they were joking.

it was great how they just kept on pullung these deperate cheap shots for popularity
"WE LIKE METALLICA"
"USE OUR BACKSTAGE FACILITIES"
"WERE SHIT"

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Alright,i'm sick of this stupid dispute about if bottles we're thrown at this Good Charlotte show or not.Well, they we're indeed thrown. And I have proof.A picture sure is worth a thousand words..Though,it doesnt look like they are walking of stage as bottles we're thrown. And as for the band provoking the crowd to throw bottles at a band,I find that bull shit. Not only is it disrespectful to a band, most arenas will throw you out for throwing anything, including bottles..Anyways,check out this picture and judge for yourself. http://nme.com/artists/photos/photo/21139.htm

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

'As for the band provoking the crowd to throw bottles at a band, I find that bull shit.'

But they did. Twice. I watched until the end, for my sins.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Oh well,I dont know.I wasnt there, nor Do I even know where this show took place.Though, iam going to see good charlotte in a month.Maybe i'll do alittle bottle throwing, you know, incase the band provokes me and all.I was just posting the picture to solve the dispute.Hope its solved..The picture doesnt lie.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Whoa man, one bottle. Hardly shows a bottling...
BTW kids, always remember: when it comes to bottle throwing, leave a little liquid in the bottom, say, a finger's width. This way the little bugger will fly straight and true to its target. Too much and it'll drop short; too little and it'll drop short and look shit. Extra point for style, so I wanna see a good arc on the throw, with plenty of topspin!

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Haha.Hey shut the fuck up,you find me a picture with more then one bottle, and you can talk shit then..And I agree with you on the liquid in the bottle.I'll try it when I go see them. Now the only question is,which gaywad do I aim for? I play drums,so I'll let the drummer go..I'm aiming more towards the guitar/vocals one..Well,okay,the one bottle being thrown in the picture that I posted, proves that atleast one bottle was thrown! unfortunately the dildo who through the bottle had failed to reach its target.Better luck next time.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Man, this getting almost as tedious as the band itself. To reiterate the points I made in the very first thread (with a little more explanation)...

1) There were two band-instigated bottle storms.
2) They didn't cut their set short, everything (including them) was running early by then for reasons I don't know as I was watching stuff on other stages (Applicators - average, Raveonettes - ace) until then.
3) I just wanted to correct an incorrect story that was being put about all over the place. Just because they were diabolical (and they were) doesn't mean people have to use a false story as an angle to take another pop at them.

That's all I ever wanted to say. The fact that this has become such a long thread is a bit of a shame, because there's nothing more to add. Go use your energies on positive things now... ta!

Cheers,
Damian.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Perhaps I was being misunderstood? I dont care if people we're throwing bottles at the band,or even if the band was provoking them.I dont give a fuck,I was only posting a picture, that had a bottle being thrown at the band.I wasnt at this show,so I guess I have no say in it,but i'm finding this shit rather way to funny, and at the same time some-what annoying. This tedious argument should be over with.Dont feed the fire,if you dont except to be burned in the process..It's late, and I havent been to bed yet.The bull shit I'm saying right now is probably just that, bull shit..By the way,the picture I posted,I dont know if it was at the show you all are talking about.So,whatever..I'm done with this thread unless I find an e-mail in my box saying that someone has replied to this..Give it a rest..

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

You're a right moany cunt. I hate you. Get over yourself.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Hahaha.I'm a moany cunt eh? Sure, think what you want.Dont get all upset about what I have to say.The truth hurts doesnt it? Bah,and now i'm over this thread.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Whoa! Easy, tiger.
So the 'x' either side of your email address... straight edge? Man, shame, as I guess that means you won't want to waste any soft drink on a decent bottle toss. It does, however, raise an alarming question - if you're straight edge, and therefore don't get drunk enough to dance badly to shit-awful bands that you'd usually rip into, what are you doing going to a Good Charlotte show, and paying I bet! The mind boggles...

...but if you do fancy a bit of bottle action, I find that the fat-ass bassist is the easiest target. You'll get a greater satisfaction from twatting the singer, but he's quick on his feet with no instrument, so you're best off playing safe with the fatties... enjoy!

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

I like a lot of different styles of music, and I dont really care what people say about my taste in music.Though,Good charlotte isnt even on my top 5 favorite bands, let alone my top 20 list.Um..I dont keep a list, but if I did, they wouldnt be up there.I dig some of their songs, catchy music I guess.Their first album is way better then the new one.Just to let you know, when I do get drunk,I tend to pass out.I dont dance and make a fool of myself.I cant even dance when i'm sober,so I wouldnt even attempt to.You are wrong again,I didnt pay for my ticket.I'm going with my cousin, and she paid..Thanks for the advice on the fatties.Haha,I sure did have a laugh on that one.

Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

thank you all of you gr8 ppl who threw a bottle at good charlotte. The fucking new age hippies deserved it.

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

The bottling of Primal Scream was far more impressive anyway, and more significant. Everyone knew GC were gonna take a bottling at some point of their set. Primal Scream deserved it more though, the cock-rock dinosaurs. Will someone please tell them to stop...

Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

You should hear their behaviour at the K! awards!! Complete rock stars, all of em! Watch this space for the full story!

Re: Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

Re: boo fucking hoo

Re: boo fucking hoo

sorry im really bored, but seriously, y do u hate em so much, y cant we all unite in a hate of say.... townies? if we killed em all, we could all b happier and b able 2 walk around after dark without fear of bein attacked by burb wearing, shaven headed, tracksuit lovin, sock tucked into joggers assholes. then we could have a perfect world.

Re: boo fucking hoo

sorry, im also drunk

Re: boo fucking hoo

First Off I'd Like To Say That I Find It Really Stupid That Yu Think They Play Nsync Songs On Guitar Cuz They Don't They All of There Songs Have Meaning and There Not a Copy of Everyone Else! It's So Stupid Music Sucks Now It's Almost Like People Aren't Even Actually Listening To It! People Don't Even Buy Cd's Anymore They Just Download The Hottest Songs It's Like Everyones A Fucking Clone! What Makes Good Charlotte From Different Bands Is They Actually Worked Hard To Get Where They Are To Day Unlike Other Bands or Singers They Just Put Out A Song W/ a Good Beat and All of The Sudden There Rich and Famous Like Wtf! Unlike Other Bands Who Play The Same Thing Over and Over Again Good Charlotte Is Willing To Experiment and Still Have Loyal Fans No Matter What They Do! And All of Yu People Have Nothing Better To Do W/ Yur Life Then Diss a Band Who Actually Has Some Musical Talent and I No Yur Only Dissing Them Because Yur Following The Crowd and Just Wanna Fit In! And Yu Wish Yu Had There "Fat Chicks"!

Good Charlotte: This Year's Daphne & Celeste

i think good charlotte can be good...

maybe they were just having an off day?

Stop slaggin them off,
how wud u like it if folk slagged u lot off for doin wot u luv?

at least they actually write their own songs!
