Rather like Felicity Kendall, Rancid are probably far too old, but still well worth five minutes of your time. Respect the aged, and all that.

And, as enjoyable a three minute romp as ’Fall Back Down’ is, there’s a feeling of mild shame in indulging yourself in it, being that it’s a rather standard, if infectiously perky, pop-ska romp. But you know that it’s Rancid, and you’ve got to give it it’s due respect and attention. Rather like Felicity Kendall.

Rancid - Fall Back Down

I saw em last night, and they are anything but "far too old".
They put one hell of show with more energy, enthusiasm, and fucking good tunes than any punk band I have seen.
And this review is shit.

Re: Rancid - Fall Back Down

At first it's quite good, i agree (meaning the song) but then it just gets bloody irritating.

Rancid - Fall Back Down

This single is shite. they are meant to be punk but it is more power pop. Something I would expect those lame "punk" bands like Good Charlotte, Something Corporate, All American Rejects, or Blink 182 to release . Where have all the good punk days gone where catchiness & melody didn't mean a thing.
If you want to hear REAL punk look to bands like Dead Kennedys, Discharge, Crass & Charged GBH!

"where catchiness & melody didn't mean a thing"

what's wrong with catchiness and melody?

OH MY GOD, WATCH OUT! THIS THING MIGHT HAVE A *TUNE*!!! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

Re: Rancid - Fall Back Down

Stop talking bollocks. Rancid have been and continue to be one of the best punk bands. Bands like Discharge and Crass couldn,t hold a candle to them.(I,ve seen both bands, so I speak with knowledge).

And are you really trying to say that albums like, " DAMNED DAMNED DAMNED ", " V2 " by The Vibrators, " Live at the Witch Trials " by The Fall and " The Crack " by The Ruts contain no melodies or tunes. Every one of those is a classic punk rock record. One of these albums is even by a band that you profess to like!

To quote the words of the great man, Lars Frederiksen, " Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one. " And yours stinks because it is ill-informed and very narrow minded.

So next time you decide to comment on punk rock, make sure you know what you are talking about.

fall back down

it's no less catchy than "roots radicals" or "time bomb" or a lot of their earlier stuff. and it's really annoying to have to label everything. either you like it or you don't, but you should like to music, not the label.

has anyone who's been to a rancid show earlier this year got a copy of the playlist? if so, email to me? please? i'm trying to decide whether or not to go see them play tonight.

Re: fall back down

There is no contemplation, you go see them play Time Bomb & Ruby Soho and go home smiling :)
