supporting Interpol ages ago & remember thinking they were quite possibly the most insipid band i've ever seen.
adman2001 - do yourself a favour and buy Feels by Animal Collective.
You
are so wrong. They are one of the best bands I've seen live.
You
need to see more bands then.
...and then Interpol came on.
nah
im quite fond of the lyrics, or perhaps just the way he sings them, love his voice
1000 Seconds
Is only, like, the best song evar.
yeah i agree
nice voice good melody.but lyrics make me cringe.maybe its only that one song. 1,000 seconds and alone jealous and stoned have awesome lyrics.
Secret Machines
are one of the best live bands I've ever seen. It was like a communal experience more than a gig. But yes, the second album's drums are mixed too quiet. But who could listen to You Are Chains and not burst into spontaneous grinning when the chorus kicks in?
yep
I loved them live too. Didn't even know anything about them the first time, just fell upon them in a tent in Leeds and thought, wow.
vocals
i've been listening to this a bit, and the more i listen the more i wish it was instrumental. the music is great, but the vocals don't seem to match the music half the time either in tone or rhythm. some of the lyrics are bloody awful too(particularly that one about the cop car parked right across the road). It almost feels like one of thse bootleg things with 2 compeltely different songs stuck together, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I would love to see them live tho
they were very good
at the wulfrun the other week. i haven't heard the new album, might buy it today.
is it
anywhere near as good as september 000?
I think it's quite good
and they are very good live.
Do spiders poo? I think we should be told.
is that all you own of theirs Brooner?
to answer your question its much bigger sounding, im not sure if that helps
Lesson Learned: Never Doubt SM
I bought Ten Silver Drops a few days ago, and I just listened to it for the first time today. It really is everything I hoped it would be-gorgeous and stirring space rock. I highly recommend playing it loud to get the full experience. The guitar-playing is particularly striking, and yeah, some of the drumming is mixed quieter than on the first album...but then again, this album is meant to float and be more focused on texture than the first one was. I was a bit wary of this album going into it, as the album thus far has received very mixed reviews. But after listening to it, I can say that I actually feel bad for anyone who claims to not be moved by it. Everyone deserves to be able to connect with something like this.
alone jealous and stoned
TUNE. 'nuff said. some of the lyrics are a bit dodgy on ten silver drops. i.e. I hate pretending I'm like you.
no
i have now here is nowhere too, but september 000 is far and away my favourite of their stuff.
shall go track down 10 silver drops tho from what folk are saying
He's lying.
Its all soft and un-Nowhere like.
The drums are quieter than a spider having a poo.
arrrrrrr
traitor to the throne.
The first album
Is good, but it's a bit samey after a while
the drummer
should go solo.
